Draft at toronado. Pours a clear but very dark brown. Loose creamy tan head. Hugely nitrogenous nose, deep dirty socks aromas that never go away. Slippery medium body with soft carb. Bread and laundry on the mid palate. Sticky, soggy finish. jgb9348 (6482) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - MAR 16, 2015
Crisp dark brown coloured body with an almost perfect, three centimetre tall tan head that shows nicely. Aroma of nuts, earth, caramel, brown sugar and a touch of light funky yeast - nice. Medium-bodied; Assertive nutty flavour with some walnuts and cashews noticeable and an almost fruity finish with a pleasant sweetness. Aftertaste shows a little depth from the caramel and a lot of nuts with only a touch of yeastiness and funk at the tail end. Overall, a decent nut brown and perhaps one of the better and most complex ones i’ve had in a while, but that still unfortunately doesn’t make this a beer worth searching out to find. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 08-November-2014 for US$2,25 sampled at home in Washington on 15-March-2015. Can. The color is a thin, clear reddish brown with off white head and lace. The aroma is true to the style, malty, nutty. The flavor is thin malty, brown sugar, nuts. The finish has a slight resin bittering. EvanFriend (632) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 9, 2014
I missed the "lager" part on the can and thought I was getting a brown ale. Horribly disappointing there. This is a mild taste of German yeast and powdered chocolate with a really bad aftertaste. Not at all good. ganache (6057) - New Jersey, USA - SEP 9, 2014
Canned. Nose nutty, heavily malty with light spice and earth, deep dark toffee and faint hops. Really earthy and deserving of the name. Pours a beautiful mahogany gradient down to chestnut, very slow carbonation with a dense and rocky beige head. Taste semi-sweet but seems dry at first, touch of tartness overshadowing light bitterness, but above-average maltiness with a hint of nuts and fruit that melts into the background. Clean medium-full body with just a touch of alcohol.

On tap Beer Authority New York September 2013. Sweet and mildly bitter with some chocolate in the background. bartlebier (4123) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - APR 18, 2014
(backlog recollected in abstinence) Tap pitcher, shared at Pork Slope, Brooklyn 09/2012.Thanks to Steve and John for taking us here!). Pretty full-flavoured Dunkel/cream ale crossover with a mellow light malt but great assertive, spicy and UK hop profile that went very well with the delicously dripping swineries on offer. Apparently a Pork Slope mainstay, as it is still on their tap menu after 1,5yrs. Renobob (2064) - Besançon, FRANCE - APR 13, 2014
Bue à la pression. Couleur ambrée. Arômes d’agrumes avec une pointe d’amertume très légère. Peu d’acidité. Je n’ai pas senti la noisette. Dogbrick (13777) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAR 10, 2014
Sample at Fette Sau. Clear pale brown color with a thin beige head that recedes quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts and hops. Light-bodied with flavors of toasted malt, nuts and mild earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall. alobar (3914) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 21, 2014
Pours medium brown with no head. Aroma of toasted malt, nuts, and caramel. Sweet malt flavor with caramel, toasted malt, and nuts. Nice beer.
