Aroma: A nose full of malts, with some caramel, plenty of nuts, and a coffee/chocolate presence
Appearance: This beer pours a dark amberish color with an off-white head atop it
Flavor: The taste is much the same, on the malty side, and lacking balance
Palate: The body is medium, with an okay mouthfeel, decent drinability, and average carbonation
I wasn’t overly impressed by this beer. It’s bordering on fine, but it certainly isn’t great. I’ll probably skip this going forward, it just isn’t a beer I’d rush out for at all.
Tap at Colichio & Sons Tap Room. Pours brown with thin head and nice malty nose. tastes of chocolate, nutmeg, malt, roasted nuts, light smoke, coffee grinds. decent sipper beerbill (3618) - Laurel, New York, USA - JAN 30, 2012
Growler filled at Big Z Beverage. Pours a clear deep reddish amber that allows light to pass to pass through with a moderate-large tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of malt, coffee and some mild chocolate. The flavor is similar and in the same proportions as the aroma. Smooth finish with very mild bitterness. Medium bodied. An enjoyable lager.
