COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentuckys finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

Bottle from Target. Decent barrel flavor up front. A bit of maltiness with a mild sweetness to it. Some harsh bitterness in the finish. A little wood and vanilla as well. Certainly lacking the depth that a lot of barrel aged beers have, but still not bad for the price.

Flat appearance and smell. Boring taste, too boozy and thin. Not enough malt substance.

Draft in a shaker at Lexington North Courtyard. Caramel clear with mild bourbon and sweet malt flavor. Not that bad.

Draft. Bourbon aroma of oak, vanilla, and sweet bread. Pours clear golden on the light side with hint of amber. Taste is medium sweet. Finishes with a lite bourbon bite but mostly vanilla smooth. I love beer and bourbon and think this is underrated.
