Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentuckys finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

I love the distinctive bourbon taste and smell of this ale. It is very good by itself. It is even better when mixed with Breckenridge Vanilla Porter- the combination is outstanding.

Ale aged in bourbon whiskey barrels presents a sweet start with a smooth mellow finish. The sultle blend of bourbon and malty ale flavors is complex yet complementary.

Heres the deal, I drank it from a growler because the growler dude was raving about it. Admittedly, Im not a whiskey man. I am a beer man. This beer tasted like bourbon mixed with club soda. Tastes nothing like beer. Tastes like watered down bourbon. I drank the whole growler anyway tho and Im drunk as a smug sloth so take it for what its worth. You daft cockm

Draught at The Gingerman NYC sept 2012. Clear amber berr with a minimal white head. Hoppy and bourbon aroma. Bourbon flavour. Too much bourbon flavor, kills the beer....

Pours copper into a snifter glass. Nose of vanilla and bourbon. Taste of bourbon and vanilla - not sure how others didn't think this had a bourbon taste - I found it quite strong. Ok, but if I want bourbon, that is what I would order. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Smells like jim beam and caramel. Amazingly clear caramel color. Nearly no head. Light body. Tastes like a whiskey without the burn.

355ml brown bottle. Gold pour, clear. Decent looking white head with a nice fine bead to it. Good looking lacing. Nose has some sweet notes of caramel and vanilla. Taste has big vanilla, sweet caramel, some honey. Light woody/barrel in the finish, dries out a fair bit. Medium body, fine bubbled carbonation on the tongue. Was not expecting a golden and clear beer here, but overall this is a sweetish but drinkable strong ale with mild oaky barrel notes. A bit industrial, but drinkable.

Growler from the Beer Growler (Alpharetta). Clear gold with a small, off-white head. The aroma is caramel, hay, butterscotch, and vanilla. Very sweet, with a little sour note toward the end. Medium body, sticky, a little acidic, and lightly carbonated. This beer is very forward with the bourbon notes, which is the only thing to make this mediocre beer worth drinking.

On tap. Pours a clear amber gold with a grayish tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of vanilla with some sweet grains and just a bit of bourbon. Flavor is also heavy with vanilla throughout and just a hint of bourbon a bit sweet.

Pours a copper color, thin white head. Smells like vanilla no real bourbon smell or taste in this beer. Was fairly dissapointed all around. Would like less vanilla and more bourbon.
