Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentuckys finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

Clear golden color with thin white lacing. The aroma is a little musky and has an underlying vanilla hint. The palate is smooth and sweet with notes of vanilla and cherry. Semi-sweet beer that has a feeling of a watered down bourbon.

Aroma has a sweetness and a bourbon edge. Color is a bright yellow with a white head. Taste is sweet and bourbon, definitely a bourbon lovers beer. Plate is smooth despite this.

Draft. Regular tan ale color. No head or smell. Taste is smooth and crispy at first but then the vanilla bourbon aftertaste hits immediately. Not too boozy tasting. Ok ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. bottle pours a clear red/amber color with small white head. Smells of beer but tastes like marzipan candy. Aroma is full of butter, sugar, vanilla, oak and caramel. Bourbon is barely noticeable. Taste is sweet, and body is medium. Alcohol is well hidden. Mouthfeel is slightly creamy, without too much carbonation. Not a great beer, but very different from anything else Ive tried so far.

Enjoyable beer. Pours a light brown with a moderate head. Notes of oak and vanilla. Medium malty sweetness, light bitterness, and notes of oak and vanilla in the flavor as well. Finishes with a pleasant alcohol warming.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2013 Big disappointment. Very mild and confused. It has some of the sweet qualities of bourbon - vanilla and coconut, and odd cereal - with no character or heat. yikes, steer clear

UPDATED: APR 18, 2014 4pack purchased in Louisville KY, 09/2012. Very sweet, thick and up-front bourbon, almost no alcohol, with all-pervasive vanilla, nut(meg) and caramel. Like drinking liquid toffee (Werthers Echte), which is hard to finish a whole pint of. Flawed as a beer, makes sense as a dessert, or even better: as the richest part of a dessert when shared. Not sure where the other 3 bottles went, was finished with this very specific brand of artificial bourbon beer in a few gulps. Enjoyable as a representative of the large kitsch department in US brewing, that will cater to the fans of any taste to the extreme, losing sight of balance or grace. Probably addictive like cheap candy you know is bad for you.
