COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentuckys finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

Poured light amber, litle head. Definite hint of bourbon on the nose. Body was very light and watery. Taste was essentially bourbon and water. The bourbon overwhelmed any flavors or complexities of the beer. I am a big bourbon fan but if I wanted to taste straight bourbon I would pour myself a glass of Makers. Either needs less time aging in bourbon barrels or need to start out with a heavier base beer like a porter or stout

Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber body with a small fizzy off-white head that faded fairly quickly. The nose is quite sweet with a definite boozy bourbon and wood note. Some caramel, honey, and light graininess. The flavor is a bit bland, some honey and caramel sweetness, very minimal bourbon, vanilla, and wood, nowhere near what the aroma was suggesting. The extra vanilla and honey sweetness hides the graininess of the base Kentucky Ale. Medium bodied, just a touch sticky, soft fizzy carbonation. A bit better than the regular version, but not one to seek out.

Bottle from Whole Foods PM. Copper pour with off-white head. Some caramel, oak, bourbon in the nose. Charred caramel malt in the flavor, some oaky and bourbon notes, increasing as it warms. Lighter palate heft.

Amber to bronze in color with a fluffy off white head. Bourbon, with hints of vanilla, butterscotch and caramel. Thin amber ale flavored with bourbon is how I will state the flavors. No real depth in this one. 8/11

7/X/16 - 12Fl. Oz. bottle @ Cybus birthday party, BB: n/a (2016-1215) Thanks to Cybu for sharing the bottle!

Clear orange beer, creamy yellowish head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet, bourbon, vanilla, caramel, fruity, red liquorice. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of bourbon, vanilla, bit sweet, very yeasty, ripe banana. Aftertaste: hint of bourbon or is that the power of suggestion? Slightly bitter and mainly sweet. Not really impressed.

Couleur ambre claire, trs lgre mousse.

All bourbon, no ale. Nose is weak, some booze notes, which leads to a surprisingly all-bourbon beer. Like carbonated JD, with a very, very mild ale back. Sweet in an off-putting way, and the fade is more reminiscent of a whiskey and water than beer.

Clear amber with a medium soapy head. Strong aroma of whiskey, oak and biscuit. Taste is... yummy. Butterscotch, whiskey, biscuit, very malty and tasty. Booze well hidden. Lovely.

Bue en bouteille de 33cl. Ambre claire. Pointe de vanille et de tonneau au nez mais quoi ne retrouve pas du tout au palais. Ambre classique malt et caramel avec du sucre pour ne rien arranger.
