COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentuckys finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

Pours amber. Very faint aroma of whiskey with some malts detectable. Flavor shines with a hint of vanilla and a smooth bourbon flavor. This is basically a medium-bodied bourbon flavored beer.

Sde malt, majs, smr, mrk honning, karamel, bourbon, vanilje. Smag : Karamel, bourbon, malt, let sdlig, lav bitterhed. Medium krop. Ganske rig kulsyre. Lang, maltet og bourbonny eftersmag med en smule af spiciness. Den bourbon virkelig skinner igennem, p en god mde.

Picked up a four-pack (again), perhaps for the sake of nostalgia. 12-ounce bottle into a pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly crystal clear deep amber-orange color with a light-tan head that dissipates quickly and leave behind very minimal lacing. Aromas of bourbon, butterscotch, coconut, vanilla, honey, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and molasses brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, butterscotch, fruitiness, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Flavor is all of the above, on steroids. While I want to like it (and I think I once did), its a bit overwhelming. The mouthfeel is somewhat thick and definitely oily and syrupy so much so that I question whether an adjunct has been added to this beer to give it this flavor and mouthfeel. Is it really just the barrels? I dont think so. Ive tasted many, many different styles of beer from bourbon barrels, and none are this syrupy and cloying. Having said that, I still enjoy the flavor, so periodically pick it up. Having just downed this glass, Im going to upgrade to an actual glass of bourbon!

Pours a clear golden brown from a bottle, thin white head with medium bubbles, minimal lacing. Bourbony, vanilla caramel aroma, similar flavor but dryer and less strong. A little biscuity. Good beer.

Surprise de trouver une telle ale en grande surface. Des notes de whisky prsentes et un peu envahissantes.

Okay not great. Nice amber clear with nice tiny defined lace. Nose is vanilla and caramel taste is similar but a bit fruity and refreshing. Bland though. Syrupy mouthfeel.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/amber/light copper color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, honey, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, butterscotch, fruitiness, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of bready malt and bourbon barrel notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, honey, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, butterscotch, fruitiness, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness. Light earthy bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, honey, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, brown bread, and yeast/oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with no cloying sweetness after the finish. Minimal dryness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/creamy, and lightly tannic mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.2%, with zero barrel booziness. Overall this is a very good barrel aged English strong ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Not a ton of malt complexity, but showcases the bourbon barrel character very well. A very enjoyable offering.

bottle. Poured clear dark amber with a thin white head. Caramel malt aroma, slightly oaky. Medium body, crisp carbonation, a little burny alcohol finish. Subtle charred oak flavour, sweet notes of vanilla and caramel, bourbon comes through.

If you like bourbon you will love this beer, it is crisp in flavor, not hoppie and the kick is smooth.
