COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Award-winning Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale is a unique sipping beer with the distinctive nose of a well-crafted bourbon. Our Kentucky Ale is aged for up to six weeks in freshly decanted bourbon barrels from some of Kentuckys finest distilleries. Subtle yet familiar flavors of vanilla and oak are imparted to this special ale as it rests in the charred barrels. Pleasantly smooth and robust, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale may also be served as an aperitif or after-dinner drink. Launched in 2006, it has grown to become the flagship beer of the premier name in barrel-aged beers: Alltech Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company.

Has a really strong flavor with a real bourbon taste. Their is very little hops but it has the quality of a imperial. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml brown bottle. Gold pour, clear. Decent looking white head with a nice fine bead to it. Good looking lacing. Nose has some sweet notes of caramel and vanilla. Taste has big vanilla, sweet caramel, some honey. Light woody/barrel in the finish, dries out a fair bit. Medium body, fine bubbled carbonation on the tongue. Was not expecting a golden and clear beer here, but overall this is a sweetish but drinkable strong ale with mild oaky barrel notes. A bit industrial, but drinkable.

Pours copper into a snifter glass. Nose of vanilla and bourbon. Taste of bourbon and vanilla - not sure how others didn't think this had a bourbon taste - I found it quite strong. Ok, but if I want bourbon, that is what I would order. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap in Hudson, WI. Interesting to have something besides a stout barrel aged. I did it, although the bourbon aromas and taste is a bit too heavy for this one.

Was not bad but I expected more. It had a pleasant woodsy smell. Poured a nice deep color. It had a sharp alcohol taste. I did not pick up much flavor from the wood, or vanilla like I was expecting. It had a harsh finish. It could be I got a bad bottle.

Poured from a bottle. Dark clear pour, slight head. Very strong oak aroma with a healthy scent of bourbon. Flavor is coffee with a hint of vanilla. Not bad but not my favorite in the class.

22oz draft 4/7/12 (The Town)-Pours an amberish brown with a small head. Aroma of bourbon, malt, and caramel. Taste of the same with some vanilla. This medium bodied brew was not bad as I was not sure what to expect.

From the tap. Pours copper color, thin head, clear. Smells great - sweet bourbon, vanilla, wood. Barrel taste is pretty overwhelming. A bit of malty caramel as well, but pushed out by bourbon and some alcohol. One was good enough.

Bottle from recent trip on the Bourbon Trail. Poured into pint glass, golden-amber color with white head. Great aroma of bourbon, vanilla, some oak and caramel malt. Taste is a little lighter then aroma leads on, honey/vanilla sweetness and light oaked bourbon balanced with some small hop character. Medium body, light carbonation, sweet body and a dry quick finish. Ill admit kind of weak for a American strong ale but Im a sucker for bourbon so I enjoyed this quite a bit. Easy drinking for a beer and bourbon fan.
