COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Carefully crafted by Alltech’s master brewers, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout® builds on the success of its barrel-aged brother, the beloved Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale®. Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout is brewed and aged with Alltech® Café Citadelle Haitian coffee and aged in world-famous Kentucky bourbon barrels. The result is a complex stout with dark-roasted malts, hints of caramel and vanilla and a lightly roasted coffee finish.

Bottle from Liquor Barn, poured into a pint glass. Watery for a stout, opaque black with a trace of beige head. Has roasted malt nose with a touch of bourbon. Flavor is consistent with the nose, though the alcohol notes in the taste is more harsh than bourbon-like. Unpleasant malt finish.

Aroma: sweet and bourbony but not overwhelming; Appearance: black with thin white head that disappears quickly; Taste: roasty with some coffee but also unpleasantly bitter; no bourbon taste; Palate: heavy body with long, sweet-bitter finish; Overall: no desire to ever get again.

From a bottle into a Rodenbach Grand Cru glass. Pours Mahogany dark brown with modest head and lace. Aroma of milk and dark chocolate, roasty malts and a hint of bourbon. Medium carbonation and big mouthfeel. Flavors of roasty malts, liquid smoke, lime zest, slight bourbon, oak, cola, tart berries. Overall a wonderful aroma showcasing chocolate with a taste that can catch one off guard with sour notes, leading to a brain fart, but not a bad one!
