From a bottle into a Rodenbach Grand Cru glass. Pours Mahogany dark brown with modest head and lace. Aroma of milk and dark chocolate, roasty malts and a hint of bourbon. Medium carbonation and big mouthfeel. Flavors of roasty malts, liquid smoke, lime zest, slight bourbon, oak, cola, tart berries. Overall a wonderful aroma showcasing chocolate with a taste that can catch one off guard with sour notes, leading to a brain fart, but not a bad one! jbuzz (841) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 14, 2016

Poured from the tap into a pint glass. The appearance is a rich dark black color with a small tan head. The aroma is a blend of malt, bourbon and a good dose of alcohol. The taste is a fine blend of all of the aromas. An outstanding beer. jgb9348 (6581) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - MAY 27, 2016
Deep dark brown coloured body with a thin, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, alcohol, bitter nuts, earth, tobacco and at the very end - some of the oak and bourbon.Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy, nutty and very earthy flavour with some roasted malts, coffee, tobacco and burnt oak flavours noticeable. Aftertaste shows mostly meat and assertive earth coupled with roasted malt, alcohol and a little oak. Overall, a pretty funky beer that isn’t a stout at all - perhaps a porter, a brown or an old ale, but not complex, not pungent and not showing much bourbon at all! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 08-November-2014 for US$4,00 sampled at home in Washington on 26-May-2016 a few hours before heading back to New York.
