COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A barrel-aged ale brewed with Kentucky-sourced pumpkin, richly spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. As the ale is aged in fresh bourbon barrels, the sweetness of caramel and vanilla are imparted upon the brew and complement its spicier base. At 10 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), this robust, limited release seasonal makes for a flavorful sipping beer to slowly warm up with as the weather cools.

Pumpkin flavor dampens bourbon flavor but the overall pumpkin spice has a different taste than standard pumpkin ales

Aroma: Nice, tempting notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and (of course) pumpkin which really plays well with the bourbon, which is present but not overpowering. In my opinion, about as great as a pumpkin beer can smell. Appearance: Rich copper with a nice, softly rolling carbonation; the head is bone coloured and a little creamy. Flavor: Matches the nose; the pumpkin and spice meets you up front and the bourbon creeps in and sustains until the finish. Quite warming and comforting. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: I didn’t want to like this beer as much as I do; it’s by far the best pumpkin beer I’ve had, Alltech’s finest beer, and just a damn good beer period. Seek this out while it lasts.

Aroma: Brown sugar, spices, pumpkin...smells like fresh pumpkin pie. Appearance: Clear amber with rich, tan head. Taste: Heavy sweetness with hints of sourness at the edges. Palate: Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: A bit overdone for my taste, this is a heavy pumpkin pie flavored beer. It's a solid seasonal, but rich. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Comes out of the growler a nice clear golden with a fluffy eggshell head. Aroma has a strong note of bourbon-soaked oak - and pumpkin. Aaaaah, pumpkin, fresh pumpkin. Flavor adds to a core of delicious fresh pumpkin strong notes of bourbon, oak, and - butterscotch? Whatever, it’s quite tasty. Texture is firm and smooth, quite firm, good fizz. Just a snip above "good" in all categories - but watch out, it will sneak up on you like a cat on your toes while you sleep in bed. Enjoy responsibility, and Happy Samhain!

Cinnamon, oak, allspice, and pumpkin nose. Clear orange, medium yellow head, minimal lacing. Pumpkin and bourbon in the forefront, with only subtle allspice and vanilla notes. Slightly sweet. Medium body, easy carbonation, alcohol well concealed. Very tastefully done, both with the measured spice addition and the bourbon. In particular, the oak really compliments the pumpkin, which begs the question why most pumpkin ales aren’t conditioned on wood. This is as high a score as I am likely to give for either a pumpkin or bourbon aged beer.

DATE TASTED: November 13, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter... OCCASION: Friday night in--a good feeling on a cold, wet night... APPEARANCE: a beautiful amber orange body with translucence revealing balanced bubbles throughout; slightly creamy, slightly soapy white head that holds reasonably well... AROMA: cinnamon, allspice, pumpkin, and some vanilla; definite alcohol heat.... PALATE: warming, full-bodied and resilient in its finish; with the considerable ABV, this is a victory... TASTE: goodness, the bourbon--a strong, confident impact that rounds with a flowery hop aspect--the aspects of caramel are considerable, and the vanilla is pleasant; the spices are equally dominant and ambitious; this basically takes a nice whiskey and adds a more drinkable nuance to the profile... OVERALL: this could be lethal, with the ABV is subtle as the flavor is robust; far and away the best pumpkin I’ve had this season, with the sipability factor on high...

Good pumpkin brew. Kind of hard to believe this one is 10% as its so flavorful and hides the alcohol well. Very enjoyable.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on one of the first nights of fall. Appearance is a clearish amber with a thin white head. Aroma of pumpkin and bourbon, very good combination that goes well together. Taste is also pretty good, lightly sweet, bourbon isn’t too prominent but apparent. I think this was well done.
