Dense carbonation. There is a high volume of small bubbles. Cherry, chocolate, coffee and a hint of rum and rasin on the nose. There is a strong Cherry Ripe flavour with additional rasberry, rum and coffee flavours. An interesting, nicely balanced high alcohol beer that is good to share with friends. Pours black with a small head.
Nose shows stale coffee, raspberry, toasted malt and toasty notes.
Flavours include toast notes, coffee grounds, slight raspberry and an over bitterness and heavy booze. explosivedog (1933) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 25, 2016
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2017 500ml bottle. Pours dark and thick with a strong brown head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate and a little dusty toast character. Flavour has the same bitter coffee up front, a hint of tart raspberry and then a long sweet chocolate finish. There’s a little alcohol heat that builds up too. For me, that raspberry hint could be a little stronger, but it’s still pretty irresistible. The body lacks the silky smoothness of Kereru’s Imperial Nibs, as there’s a little too much carbonation for the style. Skarecrow (1112) - North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 1, 2016
Oil black color with minimal tan head.
Aroma is all roasted coffee and port cask.
Mild bitterness is followed by bitter chocolate/roasted coffee, a slight raspberry tartness and a smooth alcoholic finish.
