Dark amber color with OK head.
Malty/grainy aroma. Not much hop action - maybe a touch of pine.
Mild bitterness, quite malty with sweet finish.

Poured from bottle a clear Amber. Medium Lacey head. Not a whole lot on the noise, a few earthy Notes. A light tasting beer with not a whole lot of palate. Light hop at initial taste that quickly fades

on my 2nd bottle which poured golden brown with a fine frothy head the aroma is mildly hopped & inviting the taste is real good full of hops bitter tangy malty flavours a bit rough but is going down really well KyleCameron (33) - NEW ZEALAND - JUN 18, 2015
Hops are dominated by the chewy malt profile. Felt cloying and sweet. With a whole lot more hop bite, it may have had a chance, but it just wasn’t enough to match the style. I found it difficult to finish the beer to be honest. DylansDad (674) - North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 19, 2015
An easy drinking if unspectacular little number. Starts sweet and fruity then a touch of citrus a tad of pine and a decent bitterness at a good level to match the light body. Slightly metallic/sour after taste. Not bad at all.

Solid little drinker this one. Not overtly hoppy, but enough to keep the senses engaged. Little light on the palate, but had to keep reminding myself this is not meant to be a hopmonster. Jimthechap (2064) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 22, 2014
From tap at The Twisted Hop, Woolston after a long day of judging beer and I just needed a nice quaffable stable ale. This was just the thing. Mahogany in colour but with a minimal head, nice mature fruity aromas and flavours in a pint with good body and lengthy but well balanced bitterness. Plenty going on in terms of flavour, moving from fruity and sweet at first to measured, woody and elegant as it sat on the palate.
Another pint would have been perfect if I had time. Cantabrian (1170) - Christchurch NZ, now Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - DEC 28, 2013
UPDATED: JAN 12, 2014 Christmas dinners are not the best times for tasting. This was nice and fruity on the nose, well balanced on the flavour, easy to drink. The appearance though was not too kosher, completely lacking a head. I should re-visit this one day. Love the bats on the label! kiwianer (3428) - Otorohanga, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 16, 2013
The head is robust. It smells aromatic, full bodied, fruity. The taste is very nice aromatic, hoppy, malty, bit bitter, fruity, creamy p13 (3) - NEW ZEALAND - NOV 15, 2013 does not count
Had a pint of this after work yesterday poured from a freshly filled (and beautifully branded) flagon.
Aroma kinda thin, sweet and lightly floral, poured a deep gold with a low white head that laced lightly.
Tasted mainly sweet with yeast underneath. Slight bitter and sour tones developed as the brew quickly warmed in the afternoon sun, adding an interesting complexity. Fairly light body with the slight yeast adding more perceived weight. Average-light carbonation and a short finish reflecting the overall taste.
Good beer overall, can see it as a mainstay over BBQ season and afternoons in the sun. An interesting easy-drinker for those times when I’d want more than a couple of glasses of something that has an interesting flavour but not the complexities, higher alcohol or price of the double IPA crafters.
