"Is there any Big Pigeon Imperial Nibs in that chilly bin?" would be a good Kiwi shibboleth. But so would "shibboleth". Bottle. Dark brown with a small light tan head thats soon less than a coat. Earthy aroma of chicory, chocolate, light roast, coconut, vanilla. Lightish bodied. Dark sugars, coconut, vanilla. Dry with some herbal and burnt notes along with a fair bit of bitterness at the end. Body and richness are missing here - I can imagine whats here as accents in a really good beer.

Bottle, from Fresh Choice in Nelson. This is a dark brown beer, cola like, a bit more opaque than cola, but not too much, with a creamy off-white head that disappears very quickly. Lovely aroma of Bounty bars much more as the crown pops open than while on the glass. Flavour of chocolates and prunes, wine, of course with the Bounty bar ingredient and a certain bitter roastiness, almost herbal, that lasts longer on the tongue after youve gulped it. The body is medium, a bit vinous, but not as oily as the "Imperial" denomination would suggest. Gutted to reduce the overall average (hm, apparently I didnt!), but I did have more fun with their regular Roasted Coconut Porter.

Tons going on here, get all the notes in the spiel, except the coconut. Just a wonderful, roasty porter. At 10% with a bit more body this would be mind blowing. Class.

A B E A utiful dark coconut chocolate revolution. Dark vanilla flavors with a slight coconut taste overlaying everything. An indulgent dessert beer.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2016 500ml bottle. Aroma is coconut, chocolate and vanilla. Its like a dark bounty. Flavour is thick, sweet, bitter. Huge chocolate, huge toasty coconut and a sweet vanilla finish. I am embarrassed about how much I love this.

500 ml bottle from Hawthorne Cellars. Pours black with small tan head. Aroma of bitter chocolate and coffee. Strong flavours of coffee, bitter chocolate, and toasted malt. I could not detect the coconut, but that did not matter. This beer's flavour is intense and excellent. Well done. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
