A mildly-hopped session beer. The style is called and ’ordinary bitter’ but this one is malty & slightly sweet with biscuit flavours.

330ml bottle. Pours copper. Biscuits, raisins, dried apple, bread. Little overcarbonated. Fine.

Skarecrow (944) - North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 7, 2016
500ml bottle BB 4/17 Malty nose with slight hop note. Amber color with OK head. Medium bitterness with smooth malty body. An excellent session beer.

beer-yum (1890) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - APR 3, 2015
UPDATED: JAN 28, 2017 Enticing floral aroma in an amber pour. Impressively full bodied (albeit sweet) body is perfectly balanced by a cleansingly bitter finish. Perfect via hand pull at proper temperatures.

GlassBrass440 (321) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 13, 2014
It’s difficult to pull off this style. At 3.8% there’s not much to work with. The aroma is slightly floral and honey-sweet. Flavor is similar with a bitter bite. Not pulling out the biscuit flavors claimed on the label. Still, not bad for 1 standard drink.

Cantabrian (1161) - Christchurch NZ, now Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - DEC 28, 2013
Again a poorly timed X-mas dinner tasting. I can recall the biscuits on the flavour with a touch of bitterness, but not much of an aroma. I was not too impressed, but if we discount the bad momentum and the excessively low serving temperature, I must re-visit this one too.

kiwianer (3428) - Otorohanga, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 16, 2013
The head is good. It smells hoppy, bit bitter, aromatic. The taste is hoppy, bitter, aromatic, hoparomatic. Good.

omega (899) - NEW ZEALAND - NOV 9, 2013
Quite malty, but undercarbonated. For a pale ale this is quite dark yet come across quite thin on the palate. Only 3.8% which explains a lot.

beerledgend (1196) - Waterloo, Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 10, 2013
Bronze colour with small white head. Nutty aroma, malty biscuit flavours with hint of spruce at back. Short tingly mouthfeel.

shiny (8) - NEW ZEALAND - MAR 9, 2012 does not count
Smooth, refreshing. Great summer beer. Not watery at all like other summer beers.
