[Bottle] shared by Greg. Thanks! Pours cloudy straw gold with a small, soapy white head. Aroma is pine resin, grapefruit, some caramel malt, and a touch of alcohol. The flavor is caramalt, some grapefruit, a touch of alcohol, and quite a bit of pine resin. This one is definitely showing some age.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, thanks to Greg for the pour! Aroma has notes of pine, grapefruit juice, some caramel, toffee, hints of tropical fruits, hints of onion, slight vanilla. Taste is nice pine, caramel, toffee, biscuit, hints of orange and grapefruit, slight vanilla, finishing fairly bitter. Pretty nice, would like to try this fresh! sloth (2905) - Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA - MAY 14, 2012
Medium sized fluffy white head with fair retention and lace. Hazy orange colored brew. Nose of light pine, citrus and some tropical notes. Body is lightly medium with a soft carbonation, lil oily. Gently hopped, lil floral with tropical notes, hint of mango with that pleasent piney note, citrus and a slight malt backing. Fairly dry finish, fruits and spices, easy quaff at 8%. Bomber from IrishBoy. Thanks Richard! GMCC2181 (1609) - Newark, Delaware, USA - MAY 11, 2012
Bomber shared by sloth: Nice looking DIPA, copper orange, decent little head. Good nose. I never heard of falconers flight hops, sounds like some shite from Harry Potter. But taste is nice. Bitter, but well balanced with a malt presence. Little piney and grassy. Thin bodied but not watery. Overall: A nice drinkable dipa, thanks Bert for sharing!

22 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a medium beige head. Aroma of piney hops, buttery malt and sweet caramel malt - very piney on top. Flavour is intensely piney and buttery, with some dry citrus peel and more pine. Delicious piney hop bomb. TheEpeeist (3709) - Media, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 5, 2012

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate tropical fruits, lightly sweet orange, and grapefruit. It pours a hazy (bordering on cloudy) golden-orange with a creamy three finger head with excellent retention. There’s is some nice webbing left on the sides of the glass. It’s definitely an impressive looking beer. The flavor starts with a moderate dose of tropical fruits and pineapple. The finish has lightly sweet orange and light grapefruit. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel. Overall, it’s not in the bitter hop bomb class of IIPAs, but it’s damn tasty with all the tropical fruits and it’s dangerously drinkable.
From notes. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a tulip.
Kern 5th Anniversary pours a dark faded golden yellow color with a long-standing white head.
The aroma is quite floral with a strong lilac or lily presence. A grapefruit, lemon, and apricot hop aroma adds a strong citrusy hop aroma to a biscuity malt base.
Each sip starts out with a biscuit and honey sweetness that is light and somewhat dry. As the flavor progresses, a juicy grapefruit flavor comes in with a hoppy vengenace. Apricot and some lemon zest provide some further depth to the strong hoppiness.
Bubbly carbonation also has a creamy quality to it, giving off the perception that this is a light, easy drinking beer. The 8% ABV is deceptive for sure.
Overall this is an extremely enjoyable beer out of Kern River. Peacehammer (624) - California, USA - MAR 17, 2012
pours deep orange with two finger foamy head. Lots of citrus, peach and grapefruit aroma. Very smooth body, some bitter hop flavor right up front that finishes with some awesome tropical fruit notes and grapefruit. Great double IPA.
