Bottle. Very dark brown color with large light brown head. Chocolate malty and yeasty aroma, little sweet and some alcoholic hints next to some caramel touches. Smouth body, little sweet, again some brown sugar, chocolate and fruit. Full body, nice bitter-sweer finish.

25 cL bottle. Pours with brown head which quickly disappears. Dark brown colour. Clear small of spice. ligourice and fruits (raisins, figs and blum). Carbonated, maltly smell and liqourice/malty taste and elements of cinnamon, caramel. Very complex brew that needs some adjustment but quite enjoyable!

[An aged sampled I believe Ive had it for two years - and now it is about to expire] A deep red beer with some chunks of yeast, underneath a lazing dark brown head. The aroma is lovely with notes of candy sugar, alcohol, chocolate, raisins, wood, and yeast - very complex. The flavor is sweet and has strong notes of chocolate, combined with notes of prunes - in a lovely combination, but also notes of alcohol - a bit like an old Sherry, as well as wood and hints of tobacco. Mysteriously the body feels a bit thin, but the aftertaste lingers for a long time.

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2005 (Bottle 25 cl) Vintage 2003 at 9% ABV: very dark brown, almost opaque. Pronounced impurities from the bottle fermentation. Weak, light brown head. Extremely delicious malt aromas, slightly smoked and rather dry but not sharp at all with a rather subdued bitterness. The alcohol is scaringly well hidden. 040505 As "Kerstpater" 6,5% ABV, probably vintage 1997. 7/4/7/3/14=3,5

Warning! Early amateur rating! Startling! Complex beer with sacharrin sweet notes, a dry finish and a clear coca cola flavour and feel. Some herbal notes as well. Maybe the refrementation sugar is making this beer a bit off the beaten track!
