COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
„Keserű Méz” – meaning Bitter Honey, inspired by the infamous Polanski-movie, Bitter Moon – is a strong, unfiltered, unpasteurized lager from the Fót Brewery. It is bright yellow and opaque, with a thick white head. It’s bisquity, floral-honey sweetness, and its fruitiness resembling melon and mango are all work to hide the brutal bitterness of German hops – Spalter and Magnum.

„Keserű Méz” is a genuine specialty from Fót – north of Budapest – and the first great surprise of the Hungarian Craft-Beer Revolution, kickstarted by the First Hungarian Craft Beer Festival, Főzdefeszt in May 2011. It is an experimental beer, said to create a new beer-style, called HopLager. HopLager is a triple-hopped, strong lager beer – Hungary’s answer to American Pale Ale.

Közepes, tömör, tartós habja van. Szűretlen, borostyán színű. Citrusos, fűszeres illat. Nagyon keserűen indít, pici karamellel a háttérben, némi citrusos aromával párosítva. Utóízében is a keserű dominál, de nem olyan erővel, viszont jó hosszan. Testes sör.

Bottle at the NYE tasting in Beerville pub in Belgrade-Serbia, 31/12/2015. Pours cloudy golden (dark), NO foam at all! Meh. Nose: traces of diacetyl (!), butter pastry and cookies. Mouth: not unpleasant but flat and with a confusing sweetness. Maybe a bad bottle?

Good Hoplager. Aroma is sweet honey. Appearance is golden color with hazy liquid. It has a medium white head. Heavy sweet in the begining, bot the finish is heavy bitter. It has a light body with slick texture and lively carbonation. The finish is long bitter.

On tap at beerosag. Hazy yellow colour. Head disappers quickly. Maybe the tap was infected but the aroma is very moldy, like an aged sausage. Taste is medium bitterness with some flowery notes. It’s name means "bitter honey" but the honey is not noticeable at all maybe doesn’t even contain any.
