Fresh Bongwater Pale Ale is made with Montana grown barley and Canadian grown industrial hemp making it a smooth drinking light ale. The hemp seeds lend a slight nutty flavor to the beer but don’t worry; there is no measurable THC in this brew (a local Missoula lab actually sat around and tested this). Caramel malts are added to enhance head retention and contribute sweetness. Great for parties where mass appeal is desired. 5% abv; 22 IBUs.

i dont rate much anymore. just occasions when im bored and the mood strikes me. plus i tend to know what i like and dont get too adventurous and need notes. the rating for this could be this is awful but that would be cheap and mean. i’m not cheap. at 5% it had the potential for a good sessional beer i could drink while watching a ballgame and still get stuff done after. but there are some notes to this that i do not like. metallic throughout, somehow it has oxidation notes while being canned and a recent date. vegetable notes that do not play well with the hop bitterness. this is also one that does better straight from the can. if it gets warm it gets a lake beer taste that is not pleasant and the aroma gets off putting. i’m going to have to post ratings from their stuff i like, because i have been happy with this brewery’s stuff until now.

Pours a near clear golden with a thin white head......aroma of bread, something just slightly off almost a bit sour.......taste is thin, has more the body and some taste of a pilsen as it is just so light in flavor and body. Just a small amount of bitterness at the end.....almost a lawn mower beer.

473m can. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a medium, fluffy, short lived, white head that laces. Light aroma of bready malt, caramel and slightly floral. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, bread and a hint of nuts with a mild, bitter grass finish. Light body with a thin, watery texture and average carbonation. Easy drinking but bland and boring. Lacks hoppiness.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2017 Draft. Poured hazy amber color with an average frothy white head that lasted with fair lacing. Moderate hop and sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture with soft carbonation. Moderate sweet flavor with a moderate sweet finish of medium duration. Very interesting brew.

16 oz can at the $50,000 Bar. Pours clear golden with a fluffy white lacy head. Aroma is completely pale lager with no detectable hoppiness, hemp or anything. Taste is lightly sweet like a pale lager, with faint bitterness. Nice creamy mouthfeel. This is a very bland beer, like the blandest golden ale one can imagine, bordering on macro lager flavor profiles. Easy drinking, though.

Pours a nice gold, with white head. Aroma is typical for a lager with a slight note of hemp. Taste is malty and a bit sweet, very drinkable. Thumbs up.

Pours clear gold with small white head from the can. Nose of dough and hint of citrus. Flavor of grass, touch of dirt and some orange peel. Finish is a bit malty.

On tap at the brewery, from notes I had taken at the time. Pours a clear golden color. Nice biscuty caramel nose as well has herbal hops. Taste is much the same. Well balanced good tasting beer.
