On tap @ the brewery. Kind of hazy, dark brown appearance with a dark brown head. Quite roasty nose with a little char, dark chocolate, spicy hops, and a little coffee. Moderate low sweetness, moderate high bitterness. Lots of burnt malts, roast, earth, and herbs. Kind of spicy. Pretty good. TheGB (578) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 10, 2015
Pours black with an okay head. Aroma mostly of roasted barley. Taste is similar with not a lot of complexity. drjay44 (3801) - Salida, Colorado, USA - DEC 10, 2014
651 ml. bottle. Dated 9/10/14. Pours a medium well retained, beige head, with slight lacing, over a black (SRM 40) body.....nose is heavy roasted malts, with chocolate, coffee, hints of toffee/caramel, herbal hop note, balance to the hops.....taste is roasted malts, coffee, lighter chocolate, hints of vanilla, slight hints of treacle but dry throughout, strong green herbal hop notes, leading to a moderate hop, roasted malt lingering bitterness, balance to the malts.....mouth feel, heavy of medium body, light alcohol, carbonation makes for heavy creaminess. This is a relatively simple, but well made Stout falling into the Foreign Stout category. The hops are quite restrained with the malts more dominant.
