Medium bodied and lightly hopped, this Oktoberfest-style ale is brewed in tribute to the Red Jacket Mine of what is now Calumet and to the glory days of the copper industry in the Keweenaw Peninsula.

On tap at the brewpub. It looked pretty, smelled OK, but then it was a very sour beer--seemed as if the tap lines needed some cleaning. Very disappointing.

12oz can. Describing your beer as Oktoberfest-style ale is just a bad call, in my opinion. Hazy brown-red color. Beige head. An OK amber or red, nothing extraordinary. Very malt centered, not much hop character. Fruity tones from the amber malt. Inoffensive session beer.

Can purchase at Eastman Party Store in Midland MI. Pours a copper amber with a dissipating rocky light beige head. Very faint aroma of sweet bready German malts. Light bodied approaching medium with average carbonation. Flavor of munich malts, dough, and a hint of noble hops. Basically, this tastes like an average Marzen that has been watered down.

12 ounce can from a friend. Pours a very slightly hazy copper color with a large creamy, frothy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel with faint, herbal hops. Taste is caramel, berries and a bitter hoppy finish. Medium bodied. Looks good, but fairly bland.

This is an amber without much of a backbone. Very little flavor although it looks pretty good. Mouthfeel is nothing.

Better than other Keweenaw offerings. Lovely cloudy reddish/amber hued pour with creamy beige head. Grapefruit and bread aroma. Roasted caramel on the palate. What subtracts from this is the watery finish and lack of hops.

RAYBOY01 (2011) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 16, 2009
Amber pour with off-white head. Light grain nose and hint of citrusy hops. Flavors are sweet, lightly roasted grain, anf very light citrus hops, touches of cardboard and hints of the metallic can.

A good lookin beer. Light crisp grapefruity hops. A great session beer. Not much to it. But crisp refreshing and looks tight

skoll (420) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - JUL 5, 2009
Clear amber body, thick, puffy buff head. Bready aroma with muted caramels and grassy hops. Light body, sweet pineapple and cerealy, finishing with sharp herbal hops before fading into sugar water. lingering bitter metalic aftertase.
