Medium bodied and lightly hopped, this Oktoberfest-style ale is brewed in tribute to the Red Jacket Mine of what is now Calumet and to the glory days of the copper industry in the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Clear amber body, thick, puffy buff head. Bready aroma with muted caramels and grassy hops. Light body, sweet pineapple and cerealy, finishing with sharp herbal hops before fading into sugar water. lingering bitter metalic aftertase.

12oz can thanks to xnoxhatex. Pours a slightly hazed glowing amber with a frothy off-white small head 2.5. Same weird canned fruit like aroma that is present in the other two KBC beers I’ve tried, airy, some milled malt, light citrus hops. Lightly sweet malt flavor, similar to a mild or ESB, lightly juicy citrus hops but somewhat faded into the malt, a touch of sweetness and special roast. Medium bodied with airy but full milkshake like carbonation.

BeerBunker (966) - Burbank, Illinois, USA - JUN 23, 2009
Killed in the hotel room after Founders Fest 2009. 12oz can pours dirty amber with a white head. Heavy carbonation. Aroma is of scrambled eggs, light hops, grain, and grass. Smells very bland. Taste is of rotten eggs, pineapple straw, grass, and the faintest of hops. Medium mouthfeel. Lingering taste of grass. Very bland and boring.

Onslow (1535) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - JUN 13, 2009
Pour from a 12 oz can. Deep coppery amber color – fitting for a brew named after a copper mine. Thin head that lingers as a wafer of foam on the top, leaving ample lacing as the glass is drained. Nose dominated by hops. Pleasant and well balanced flavor – malty start with a decent hops bite to the finish. Though the can describes the ale as ‘lightly hopped’ a pleasant astringent hoppiness pervades the finish. And while the can also says it is an Oktoberfest style beer (???) it is nowhere as sweet. Very drinkable, very tasty.

Much better than their Pick Axe--a nice note of caramel in the front end before it fades to a metallic, slightly malty and slightly astringent finish. Drinkable in a pinch.

12 oz. For a canned beer it want down nicly with no tinny taste. Carmel, nut and slight hop.

12oz can. Poured a medium and hazy amberish color with a large sized off white head. Lots of suspended floaters. Aromas of caramel, yeasty, and I was getting some card board. Tastes of caramel, and some fruitiness. I had a hard time pinning this one down.

esjaygee (3906) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 29, 2008
Hazy orange with a medium off white head, quickly dissipating that leaves some lace behind. Aroma of nuts, malt and corn. Taste of sweet malt, almost candied and somewhat vegetal and caramel malt. Semi dry bland finish.

WakeandBake (549) - Greenville, Michigan, USA - OCT 15, 2008
Can.Hazy amber color, with a thin white head.Aroma is mostly light caramel malt, and some sort of fruit, like pears.Flavor is much the same as the aroma, with a touch of nuttyness, and some dry hops. Drinkable

jgb9348 (6511) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - OCT 6, 2008
Slightly hazy amber coloued body with a thin, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of fresh caramel malt, rasins, soap, nuts and a little bit of bananas. Medium-bodied; Soapy flavour with a majority malt taste and a light sweet flavour with plantains most common. Aftertaste shows mostly malt with a tiny bit of nuts and a lot of fruity sweetness behind. Overall, a decent beer, nothing great, but something satisfactory when you pour this from the can! I sampled this twelve ounce CAN purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 06-June-2008, sampled on 05-October-2008 at home in Washington.
