3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a cloudy redish orange. Nice creamy head that vanishes rather quickly. Small lacings spread out sporadically around the glass. Taste is like other Keweenaw beers, weak and watery, no oomph. Palate is on the light side. Overall I’m glad I tried it but will probably not seek again.
Can decent flavor blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

Draft. Can’t have a maerzen be an ale. It is a typical less roasty malty amber ale. firstsip (752) - Michigan, USA - JUL 12, 2015
Tap. Dark semi-opaque amber brown. Nice lacing. Mild yeasty nose. Full body. Nicely mild malty taste -- more like a mellow red than an Oktoberfest. Ratman197 (15628) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - APR 28, 2015
Can poured a clear orange aber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of caramel, fruitiness and light earthiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of caramel, earthiness and light fruitiness with a crisp lingering caramel finish. superspak (6228) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - MAR 17, 2015
12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 10/28/2014. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, light orange zest, herbal, grass, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malts and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, light orange zest, herbal, grass, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Slight earthy herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown sugar, light nuttiness, light orange zest, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good robustness and complexity of dark/bready malts and earthy hop flavor; with a solid malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth and moderately creamy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a nice malty amber ale style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of dark/bready malts and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Tap. Amber with small head. Sweet caramel with light hop bitterness. Clean and pleasant, but rather bland.

As mentioned earlier, difficult to tell from their brown ale. All had bland malt flavors, almost no aroma, watery consistency. Forgettable lot of beers. DrSilverworm (10000) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 29, 2014
12oz can, purchased as a single (for $2.50) from Woodstock Wine & Cheese in Michigan. Clear amber color. Thin half finger of off-white head. Toasty malt, some pumpkin like light spice? Decent lace. Kind of a musty taste, moderate bitter, light to moderate sweet, some metallic. Medium body. Smooth, lighter carbonation, dry finish. Mediocre amber ale. doubelknv3 (1093) - Illinois, USA - JUL 5, 2014
