Pint at Ernies Irish Pub in Escanada, Mi. So glad to find this at a Bud Light bar. It poured a deep opaque brown and no head was seen. This beer was all about malts. Brewers grains, chocolate malts, maple, brown sugar were all tadted and worked together nicely. This was a p,easant surprise. superspak (5996) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - JUL 5, 2012
12 ounce can into pint glass, no canning date. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a fairly dense 1-2 finger light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Some slight spotty lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, raisin, toast, biscuit, herbal, and light coffee. Pretty nice and pleasant aromas with decent strength. Taste of roasted malt, toast, caramel, raisin, brady grains, and light chocolate. Pretty dry on the finish; with lingering notes of roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, and toast on the finish for a short bit. Hardly any flavor presence as you drink; but the light flavors that are there are pretty balanced. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy and smooth mouthfeel. Alcohol is very well hidden with pretty much no warming noticed at all after the finish. Overall this is a pretty decent black ale. There isn’t much robustness in flavor; but it is very pleasant and easy to drink. BVery (11361) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - JUN 17, 2012
Sampled at St. Paul Summer Beer Fest. Dark brown pour, cream head. Mild lactose nose, lighter palate. Mild chocolate in the flavor. Some sweet molasses.

This should have much better ratings. I think some may think this is a black IPA. No, this is a schazbier. Very light in flavor, aroma and body but quite dark in the pour. An. Excellent example of the style. walleye (1102) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - APR 15, 2012
From the can. aroma some roasted malt honey, brown sugar. flavor more sugar than molasses, malt and that is all folks ryan (3185) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - APR 8, 2012
Thin and bland, lightly roasted with a touch of cola. Dull palate and rather metallic. Bleh. GT (10017) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 7, 2012
12oz can. Deep brown pour with small tan foam to a little layer. Super sweet nose with vegetal DMS and big black olive. Taste is tangy, over carbonated, dry wood shavings, vegetal oddities. Powdery, mealy apple palate.

I definitely enjoyed this beer. Roasty notes with a bit of sweetness. A little bit of smokiness. Dark black pour with small off white head. Moderate carbonation with medium body. Slightly smokey taste with easy finish. I think i may like this beer more than most, but the price is right and the beer is pretty good for what it is,
