Drank at VCBF 10-06-17. Disliked this beer. Tastes like roosvice: very very thin super much sugar and unpleasant sweetness. Ferris (15299) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 9, 2017
Bottle - Sweet dark cherry sour with lots of malt. Deep Amber with a decent beige head. Sweet and malty with cherry and red fruit notes. Long syrupy finish. nathanvc (507) - Brugge, BELGIUM - FEB 7, 2017
At Bruges Beer Fest 2017. Pours hazy dark brown with a red hue and a tan head. The aroma contains cherry, strawberry, sugar and some yeast. It tastes medium sweet, light to medium sour and very light bitter. Medium body, sticky texture, short finish. Atypical as a Kriek but nevertheless dominating in sweetness. (bottle) murky brown colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of heavy marzipan and liquorice, with a touch of treebark, toffee and sticky fudge. flavour is cloyingly sweet, with more toffee and treebark, some gletschereis, raspberries, earth and a light roasted-bitter finish. medium- to heavy-bodied with soft carbonation. vile stuff. lux_edwards (300) - - JUL 19, 2015
33 cl bottle. Pours a dark opaque red with minimal head. Aroma is of cherry candies and yeast. Taste is sweet like jam. Palate is medium with an oily mouth feel. Overall it an unique beer, but a little sweet for my taste. Alengrin (5376) - BELGIUM - JUL 5, 2015
Top-fermented strong sweet ’kriek’, a style which has become quite popular in recent years, especially in Wallonia and France. Thick, creamy, frothy, stable and sticky head, very pale greyish white, cloudy wine red colour with brownish hue. Aroma of cherry candy and red fruit jam, ’cuberdons’ (a kind of raspberry-flavoured sugar candy typical for Ghent), industrial honey, crème de cassis, brown sugar and a touch of caramelly malts. Very sweet, cloying, sugary taste, grenadine and red fruit jam, syrupy, very light fruit sourishness, caramelly malts underlying, very soft and faraway echo of bitterishness in the finish but otherwise remaining cloyingly sweet, with a noticeable alcohol warmth. One-sidedly sweet and syrupy, as all the beers in this particular (sub)style. Not made for my palate and if you are into this style for whatever reason, I would recommend Kasteel Rouge over this. kraddel (8145) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - APR 29, 2015
at ZBF15. Thnx for sharing, people ! Pours clear redbrown. Smell is cherry candy. Some caramel. Taste is cherry, caramel, sweet, malty back.Very sweet, yet not bad Hamirubi (587) - Waarschoot, BELGIUM - APR 28, 2015
10cl sample at the Zythos Beer Festival (Leuven, April 25th 2015). What a wonderful kriek, even enjoyable for people who dislike fruit beers. Based on real sour cherries, instead of the sweet cherries, and with extra red fruit syrup. Very sweet and somehow unnatural, but also very nice.
