COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer is 5.2% alc. and offers the palate a balance of dark malt notes with a clean, short bitterness on the finish. The name, 1855, is our way of saluting the great city of Ottawa that has been so good to us.

Oakes (18209) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 24, 2012
Draught, Pub Italia. Amber-brown. Thin head. Faint aroma is slightly caramelly and nutty. Basically a mild, toasty brown ale. A bit light but nothing wrong with it.

A copper amber alew ith a thin lacing white head. In aroma, nutty malt with light boiled veggie notes, herbal, OK. In mouth, a nutty herbaceous malt with grassy herbal hops, roasted notes, light off flavours. On tap at Arrow and Loon, June 22 2011.

2013-05-10. Dark red brown nice head. Malty, dryish light bitterness throughout. Lingering dry malt lightly toasty. Dryish toasty malt aroma, light caramel . Fairly simple, not bad. On tap at Darcy McGee’s, Ottawa

czar (9266) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 3, 2016
can. pours clear dark copper, almost light brown orange, with a very creamy off-white head, sticky lacing. fruity toasted browned malts, fresh coffee grains - medium city roast, not quite vienna style; touch of sweetness - chocolate-covered raisins; pepper, clean english yeast. moderate carbonation, light body - oily; semi-sweet yet bitter/astringent grassy-earthy finish. quite enjoyed this amber-brown ale.

Not super interesting but a good go-to in Ottawa non-craft brew pubs. Pours dark amber with some roast malt and a little hoppy bitterness. Good for pitcher session at Mugshots. Tap.

Radek Kliber (7470) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - AUG 31, 2011

Aroma: lighter nose , brown malts , gentle sweet brown sugar , hint of leafy hops.7-
Appearance: solid look. Brown with neatly contrasting white , large snowy top. Great lace. What else you might want ? 5/5
Body , Flavour , Palate and Final Notes: medium lighter body. Slight tartness, nutty follow up , dry sides with bitter lip-smacking roast. Hefty bitterness was thirst quenching to be sure. Nicely done.

Boutip (6439) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 30, 2012
Draft: Poured a clear light brown color ale with a small foamy head with light retention and limited lacing. Aroma of light caramel malt with light sweet nutty notes as well. Taste is a mix between some nutty caramel notes with some semi-dry caramel malt. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not overly complex and easily drinkable.

3.3
Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 4, 2012
Draft at Pub Italia. Red-amber, decent lace. Aroma of cookie malt, bran muffin. Sweet malt profile needs more depth, body, oomph, and some hops couldnt hurt. But the bread flavors are pleasant and juicy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

robinvboyer (4723) - Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 13, 2012
On tap at the manx. Clear brown pour, small off white head. Big upfront aroma of nuts, and doughy, caramel malts. Quite bitter in the end, with a sharp metallic finish. Meh.

Eructoblaster (4308) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 26, 2012
On tap at Sir John A (Ottawa, ON). Brown body with a fair off-white creamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with grainy hints. Its sharp hoppy taste carries grainy and oaky notes. Ends with a decent bitter/woody finish. Enjoyable Brown Ale.
