Half pint at The Cat. Light amber with a thin white foam. Nice peppery, green hops, good biscuity, sorta honeyed malts, reminds me of a Pils in many ways, very clean. Medium body, moderate carbonation, fairly smooth. Lightly fruity, a little honey, some nice malts, fairly assertive green, grassy, woodsy, slightly floral hops, a touch of eucalyptus?; dry with assertive bitterness (too much for style) and a pleasant honey malt finish. A rather hopped-up version of a Helles bock. Nice enough. asheft (3082) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 11, 2012
[on tap at Taylor, Ottawa]
Creamy grain and faint bread crust in the nose with some citrusy caramel. Clear amber with lasting, almost white cover. Citrusy caramel flavour that is almost resinous with hops bitterness. Very American Pale Ale-like; biscuity and with some weak US hops flavour. Perhaps a touch of diacetyl. This is not a bock--definitely not a lager. Medium body, medium carbonation, smooth, caramely finish. cfrancis (3443) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 18, 2012
Pours a deep golden yellow with a small white top. Aroma is slightly toasted grains, Some green, German hops provide a small bitterness and really rounds out the nice malty mouthfeel. Could have amped it up but this is a good, clean beer. Well done. Jayseppi (159) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 11, 2012
Crystal clear, rusty copper colour with a white fizzy head. Sweetness and breadiness in the aroma and a clean taste that is fairly smooth across the palate and not much of a finish.
