Draft at Barrel Republic PB. Pours dark brown with a thick, creamy tan head. Tastes like roasted malt, burnt toast, faint smoke, faint coffee, and dark chocolate. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells like dark chocolate malt, dried fruits, burnt toast, and roasted coffee.

On tap @ Kinetic. Black colored beer with a tan head. Roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and a bit of smoke. Slight ashiness. There’s a bit of a savory character to the taste. Lightly bitter, as well. Lots of roasted malt, some coffee, and smoke. Semi-sweet chocolate and a bit of licorice.

bytemesis (9231) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JUL 17, 2013
Tap. Pours clear deep brown mahogany. Small tan head, nice lacing. Aroma is you’re standard cigarettes, coffee, roasted malts. Flavor is the same, plus a touch of vanilla. Light plus sweet, light bitter. Medium body. Decent enough.

3.8
Dogbrick (13763) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - FEB 9, 2013
Sample at the brewpub. Dark brown pour with a medium thick foamy tan head that diminishes slowly to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Light-bodied with a roasty character of coffee and malt, plus some hops and sweet chocolate in the background. The finish is sweet with a bready malt and chocolate aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

3.7

beersearcher (2383) - Glendale, California, USA - JUL 17, 2012
A nice brown hued porter with coffee overtones. Doesn’t taste like 6.1% at all. There is some chocolate taste lurking there but this is a well balanced brew that isn’t thin and doesn’t knock you over either.

I thought this was a very good porter. Nice appearance and aroma. It had a very smooth feeling going down as well. I had it on tap.
