Charcoal black. No head. Sticks to the glass. Smells like grain alcohol and soy sauce. Taste is port wine, liquorice, charcoal, and biter chocolate. Excessively boozy.

Flaske. Svart med brunt skum som varer en stund nedover glasset. Aromaen er lakris, kaffe og røsted malt. Smaken er ganske lik, med røsted blir her mer fremtredende enn lakrisen. Noe alkohol også i smaken. Tynn....

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Light carbonation, jet black color. Smells of chocolate, coffee, booze, and develops some fruitiness as it warms. Starts sweet, finishes very burned. Has too much roast barley flavor and tannins. Cleanly fermented. Some acidic notes from the dark malts. Very bright in the middle of the palate. Could be great with a few years of cellaring. As it warms, it develops some nice dried fruit tastes. So, take this out of fridge a bit before drinking.

750ml bottle. Pours deep brown to pitch black in the snifter tulip. Medium, dense tan foam. Really lovely mouthfeel. Flavour of licorice, coffee, dark chocolate, and maybe some fruit. World Class!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled 19.11.14, consumed 2 years later. Pours black as night, almost like liquid chocolate, leaving a nice brown head. Smells boozy with hints of chocolate and licorice. Tastewise, really smooth combination of dark chocolate, vanilla and malt, leaving a nice, warming aftertaste. Dangerously easy drinkability given the abv. Kinn brewery has done it again!

As the name suggests, it’s black. Slightly sweet, enough to make the glass edge sticky. Various flavors, coffee, chocolate, and liquorice inn the aftertaste.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black pour with a thin head around the edge of the glass. Aroma of port and cherry. Thin body. Taste is full of stone fruits with a bitter roasted malt finish. The sweet and bitter go well together and are nicely balanced. It is a little boozy though. Long bitter finish just hangs around for a while. I had trouble getting more flavor and aroma from this one. Could have been a bit palate fatigued, but I did like this.
