Medium beige head. Red liquid with aroma of sweet malts, plums and caramel. Taste brings out alot of vanilla and other spices. Hard to pinpoint which ones, but this is definately the best christmasbeer I’ve had.

NORSAND (122) - Lillestrøm, NORWAY - JAN 19, 2018
(Bought Dec 2016. Best before date 30.11.2025, so was probably brewed Nov 2015) Medium to deep brown. Small, lasting, beige head. Nose: Vinous, malt, sweet butter caramel, honey, butter malt, hint of camphor, ground coffee. Taste: The arrival is malty, a bit toasty, has coffee and sweet caramel, then something fresh and acidic, almost lemony. It feels like there’s s quite a lot of underlying fruitiness, it’s just a bit hidden under the more immediate malt notes. The arrival seamlessly transitions into the mid palate without me being able to distinguish where and how it takes place. It’s full bodied with soft carbonation. The exit is rich, fruity, more off-dry than medium sweet, juicy, mmmmm...ending up in a long aftertaste. The 10.5% ABV is hardly noticeable. This is a very fine dark beer which drinks wonderfully now and will surely develop nicely over several years.

Et veldig mørkt og fyldig juleøl. Høy alkoholinnhold, merkes spesielt på ettersmaken. Et veldig godt juleøl som anbefales! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sampled at Billies craftbeerfest 2017. Thnx for sharing, everyone ! Don't mind my visual info to much, as lighting was really terrible. Pours rather clear amberblonde, small white head. Smell is caramelly. Taste is sharp, tad bitter, aromatic malts. OK

3.5
Alengrin (5891) - BELGIUM - DEC 4, 2017
Quadrupel (including religious reference) from this Norwegian craft brewer, shared by Goedele at BCBF. Lacing, off-white, medium thick head, hazy ruddy bronze-brown robe. Aroma of raisins, candied figs, caramel, melting brown sugar, tea, lots of rum and very strong solvents (nail polish remover). Sweet, sugary onset, candi sugary sweetness, candied fig, dates, plums, softish carbo; caramelly, bit resiny, toffeeish malt body, sweet and a bit bready but feeling a bit on the thin side for the style; chocolatey notes in the end, but soon overpowered by retronasal solvent effects again (glue), as well as (a bit too) outspoken rum-like alcohol. Fairly simple and bit thin-bodied, and way too 'solventy' - it seems the generations of experience set by the trappist monks, creators and masters of this particular style, is hard to top.

(Thank you!) Sampled draft @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2017. 2015 Vintage. Amber brown, small head. Nose is herbal cloying sweet BE spices. Thin herbal quite oxidized in not the best way, way too herbal, thin, esters. Meh not my thing.

Sampled @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2017. A dark brown beer with a mid sized most good lasting beige head. Aroma of red fruits, red malt, strong malt. Taste of mild sweet red fruits, riped fruits, grainy malt.
