Deep dark brown/black with a thin tan hat. Creamy dark chocolates nose with traces of toffee, chalky figs, and the slightest touch of cinnamon. Firm mouthfeel with dry coco, bitter bakers chocolate, figs, molasses, and hints of coffee bean. Finishes earthy and herbal with black and roasted malts prevailing.
Fairly understated for the style. Bad? No. Different? Yes.
Found old notes from early 2015, no recollection if tap or bottle. Very dark pour, near black, low tan head. Very chocolatey aroma, roasty, perhaps anise or coffee underneath. Draught at Bungalow. Deep black, ruby notes. Ruby, tan head with decent lacing. Sweet toffee with roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Flavour has huge chocolate malt with some nice dark frut flavours. Tap at Craft Beer Market Awajicho. Dark brown colour, small golden head. Aroma is interesting, bit funky, touch of smoke, liquorice, aniseed, leather.

609 yen for 10oz at Bungalow. Nice dark black pour with reddish tints around the edges of the glass & a thick creamy tan head-a great looking beer. The aroma is chocolate with toffee notes. Wow, quite a rich beer. Thick, viscous oily mouthfeel with a strong toffee, figs, plum & chocolate taste. This is the nicest beer I have had from Kinshachi. Really good stuff. I may be overrating this as it was far beyond my expectations... I need to drink it again side by side with a different top stout to judge it accurately... Draught. Inky black, fine tan head. Nice notes of roasted malt and dark chocolate, touch of spice. Syrupy mouthfeel, with nice notes of brown sugar and dark fruit. Pretty nice stout.

Bottle from Asahiya. Yeast and crude raw chocolate nose. "Pitch" brown, two-finger frothy brown head. Thick cocoa, some alcohol warmth, metallic notes, and some wine-like touches. Medium body. Bottle. Pours a dark, near-black brown with big fluffy light brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate and mild coffee. Flavor is chocolate with a little bit of hops. Nicely balanced, but perhaps a tiny bit too bitter for my tastes. Solid chocolate stout.
