Bottle, at Miga in Champain. Hazy reddish amber, beige head. Quite vinous, with Pinot noir character and light malt, slightly musty. Very interesting, nice. KyotoLefty (10254) - Kyoto, JAPAN - OCT 16, 2008
Dark brown with an amber/red tint. Medium head. Aroma is a bit sweet, rich, with caramel and a bit of fruit. Good malt flavor, not too sweet, but rich, dark and slightly roasted, slightly meaty, with light miso flavors. Nice-somewhere between a dunkel and an alt. Rich but not sweet. Rather highly carbonated. the miso is incorporated nicely and really works better than I expected.

Clear red brown beer, aery beige head, bit adhesive. Aroma: caramel, sugary, some dried fruits, toast, bit nutty. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: little sugary, bitter touch, some caramel, bit salty, toast, thin. Aftertaste: salty touch, mocha, umami, bit toasted, hint of dried fruits, bitter touch, but overall a watery impression. Too bad, cause the smell was so promising!
Bottle at Takumi Craft Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a murky medium reddish brown with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is resin hop, treacle, light fruit. The flavour is moderate bitter light sweet with a smooth malty yeast light resin hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Medium tan head. Hazy opaque black body with ongoing carbonation. Fruity red beans aroma with toffee and caramel pudding notes. Dry-sweet toffee and rice pudding taste with grassy notes. Fullish body. Mild, slightly hot mouthfeel. Dryish fruity soy sauce aftertaste with licorice and alcohol notes. Nice, unusual, and harmonic. Very drinkable. (0.33l bottle, JR Takashimaya, Nagoya.) Tasted @ GJBF Yokohama: Light salty sweet malty flavor, some pale light malts and subtle hop flavor, not much miso, rust in the tail. KansaiBeerLvrs (5141) - Kyoto, JAPAN - SEP 6, 2013
Bottle from a random liquor shop in town for 470yen bought in honor of my upcoming trip to Nagoya. It pours a rich dark brown with a foamy beige head that’s slow to dissipate & leaves behind excellent lacing. A chocolatey aroma with some salty miso notes wafts from the glass. The first sips gives me a chewy & meaty mouthfeel. A smooth chocolate start segways into salty dark miso goodness. I had this beer for the first time years ago & it seems better than I remember. Nice. Maybe not the most complex beer but interesting & something that is truly Japanese. More for those who enjoy malty over hoppy beers though it isn’t all that sweet.
