I really love this stuff...I look forward to it every autumn, and try to buy a few cases...In the "off" season I stick with Kirin CLASSIC lager (not the new watery american-ish stuff), but I would gladly drink Kirin's autumn brew all year. Like many libations, I find that they taste better in their country of origin than smuggled out of it...drink it cold and stick with the bottles. ENJOY! Strange taste, never tried anything really similar, but the final sensation it’s good yenbeer (188) - Tokyo, JAPAN - SEP 9, 2014
UPDATED: NOV 14, 2015 2014: A good annual offering available for only about 2-4 weeks in August and September each year. The 2014 variety feels a little less polished than previous years’ attempts.
2015: Pours a sexy color and holds up as a solid beer drinking experience with the malt flavoring and higher alcohol. That said, maybe it tastes a little riper than previous years. Wombata (627) - Kobe, JAPAN - SEP 23, 2014
Can from Lawsons.
Aroma: Floral & earthy hops, lightly roasted grain with some "pear"-like malt sweetness
Flavor: roasted grain, bitterness and clean, light-malt sweetness go back and forth on the mid-palate, finishes slightly bitter.
Comment: With more malt, the perceived bitterness seems a bit toned down on the finish compared to Kirin’s regular line up. Still the carbonation and bitterness gang up on the tongue on the front end. I remember this being a bit better in the past. . . .

Can bought at Family Mart in Suzhou, CN. Nose has nicely fruity hop notes, even some mild mango or passionfruit - something similar to what i pick up from sorachi ace, but really muted. Flavor is good, but a little less exciting than the nose - some light barley and adjunct (mildly sweet flaked corn). Finish is very good with a good punch of fruity hop resin bitterness that lingers for a few minutes on the palate. Good use of hops elevates an otherwise mundane strong lager.

Ditto. Decent but certainly nothing to write home about. I would have almost called this a Marzen but I'm not sure so I'll leave it. Nice golden coulr with decent head. Slight malty sweetness, and hop hop bite. ok. improvjock (328) - Seattle, Washington, USA - SEP 28, 2009
Tall boy can. Pours a golden yellow with white head. Taste is of sweet malts, with a little bit of alcohol in the finish. Better than most Japanese macros.
