UPDATED: JAN 12, 2009 Smell is average cheapo American style lager - unremarkable and inoffensive. Golden lager color with decent head retention. Thicker in the mouth than a lot of similar beers. Flavor is bland, with a bit less adjuncts and a tad bit more hop presence than BMC. Its relatively pleasant and easy to drink. I’ve had worse, but doesn’t seem like something that anyone would have a reason to seek out.

Big Bottle with 5.5% (brewed in Japan). Golden clear colour with a small white average lasting head. Aroma of malt and hops. The flavour is fresh and malty with a good touch of hops. Easy to drink smooth lager brew

In Taiwan this is 5.5 abv. Can. Relatively good pale lager. Grassy hop flavor and aroma. Full, malty mouthfeel. A tiny bit of bitterness in the finish. Note: Kirin may export a different "Ichiban" to Taiwan as the flavor was quite different from that described by other raters and the the abv was different, as well.

UPDATED: APR 26, 2007 For being a pale lager, it was surprisingly good. Aroma is crisp, a little grainy, but not too much adjunct. Flavor is slightly bready sweet, but not alot. It is mostly crisp. Not too much going on here, but a nice palate cleanser with spicy foods.

very pale yellow coloured ale, with a light laggey hop, mellow and juicy, a good lager.

Bottle. Brewed by A-B in LA?! Brown glass, but skunky nonetheless. Lightly sweet. Clear golden body with a creamy eggshell head. Body is pure watery. Light grainy bitterness with a touch of stale malt. Soft. Sampled in a side-by-side, I’d usually take this over the sharper Siwo, the extreme softness here is quite redeeming.

Aroma is slightly skunky when warm but nonexistent when cold. Quick dissipating head of one finger on golden amber body. Rich, malty flavor, few hops and a sweet finish complements any meal but is boring on its own. Nice, rich mouthfeel. So far, this is my favorite japanese beer.

Better than super dry. A bit more frothy and pale. A little bit lighter taste i guess but still pretty decent. Dunno where they got that can in the pic... special edition? looks cool though.

Fine with food, pours with a head that almost immediately dissapeared, I wouldnt be drinking this other than in a Japanese restaurant
