3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A bottle at the Cheese Factory in KC. They have a number of Boulevard beers on menu as well. Pours a beautiful deep straw colour, head dissipates quickly, not much lacing, persistent carbonation - this is the sort of beer you drink in a tall flute glass, slightly yeasty fruity nose- distinctive pears; very dry, a tad bitter, does not have the salty CO2 of many US pale lagers; quick finish, good sparking carbonation. Good example of the type. This bottle brewed in Japan. I was in Japan when it came out, the can pictured here is a garish example. It was well received by the expat community. The scores here reflect a snooty beer-bongers snootiness. This is an excellent example of the style. The fact that I only drink a bottle of this every few years is irrelevant.
Tap at Kamai, Oslo. Sure it is smooth but there ain’t much else going on here. saintbase2 (319) - Bydgoszcz, POLAND - AUG 22, 2017

The first palate is ok. But after the initial taste it tasted old. Sapporo is better.

Bottle @Wagamama. Pours golden clear, white head. Nose is bland not bad just very little to go on, slight grass/hay some sweet rice. Taste may be more bland than the nose which is saying something but then again it was not bad and good with spicy food. camay1997 (52) - patton, California, USA - AUG 7, 2017
UPDATED: AUG 7, 2017 Weak white head on top of a clear golden body. Into smells a little skunky and metallic. Bubbly on the palette, but a little bland. A good beer but not an exceptional one. Better in my memories.

Kirin Ichiban pours a pale golden color with a medium head of medium lifespan. The nose is grainy, faintly creamy, and faintly floral. The grainy attack is followed by a dry generically bitter mid-palate. The finish is lightly bitter, dry, and snappy. A gentle alcohol glow lingers. Generic.
Bottle sampled at picnic in Strasbourg. Clear light golden with white head. Light pils malts, a touch of cardboard, old hop pellets with a dried grassy touch, soft bread, cashew paste and a bit of buckwheat. Under medium sweet and light bitter. Light bodied. Drinkeable. bunget (995) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 25, 2017
Can. Clear golden body, medium white head with average retention, some lacing. Aroma of grains, rice, herbs and hints of banana. Taste of grains, banana, mineral water and harsh hops. Decent.
Brewed in Germany.
