Tastes better than you’d expect, but it still can’t break out of the low-calorie happoshu mold. Buy this over its alternatives, but you’re better served by staying away from the category altogether.

Can 330ml (Tokyo)
Clear golden color, good white head. Metallic, corn and a bit grainy aroma. Light-bodied. Watery taste, fizzy, very low bitterness, low on everything. Only some nasty sweet flavors.

czlowiekwiadro (1238) - POLAND - MAY 28, 2014

biirusaikou (2705) - - MAR 9, 2014
Soapy, mild lemon grass. Very fizzy, light maltiness, grain, lemon, dirty watery finish. Quite empty apart from some weird artificial lemonish flavor, feels chemical overall like most other low-sugar happoshu.

As a gout sufferer, this stuff keeps me in check. Seem to guzzle it faster than most beers. Not so widely available in the Tokyo combini’s however once sourced it’s on the table daily. It’s a haposhu (fake no hop beer) therefore its cheap. Don’t really drink from glasses in summer, prefer to keep it wrapped in a holder. Overall the low sugar and purine work well together to make a mellow flaqvor.

BelgianBeerGal (4255) - Panama City, Florida, USA - JUN 28, 2013
World Liquor Nakai can. Pretty bland overall. Not offensive but nothing to hunt down. Honesty when I read "double" on the can I was hoping for a malt liquor tick.

AndySnow (8306) - Huddinge, SWEDEN - APR 14, 2013
Can from Lawson. Pale yellow colour with a white head. Weak malt aroma. Flavour is weak malt, soapy, watery.

SHIG (4965) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - OCT 1, 2012
Can: Poured a clear to golden with white head. Aroma is light sweet grass and skunky. Taste is sweet grass, corn and grain. Refreshing!

CEZ (420) - Milano, ITALY - MAY 24, 2012
Another Kirin lager variant... thin on the palate, flatter and maybe a tad more acidic then the norm. Anyway it’s low on purines, which should be good for your health (purines are a source of uric acid).
