COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a classic, American-Style pale ale that displays all of the complex bitterness and aroma from the hops of the Yakima Valley in Washington State. By using a top-fermenting ale yeas strain we bring out the floral and herbal flavor profiles. A clean, malty body is developed from the pale and light caramel malt. ABV 5.4% Bitterness 35 IBU. Contract brewed for Costco by the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company under the brewer name Hopfen Und Malz (for the west coast market) and since mid 2009 by Matt Brewing as "New Yorker Brewing Co." (for the east coast market).

Bready caramel toffee malty aroma with light earthy hop character Pours a light copper with creamy off white head Hoppier in mouthfeel, earthy woody hop, balanced well with bready slightly sweet malt. Medium bodied with medium co2, slightly bittersweet finish. Quite enjoyable ESB. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear golden and light copper coloured body with a decent, two centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of cardboard, grass and a light funk noticeable throughout. Light-bodied; Strong grassy and funky cardboardie malt with a lot of assertive bitterness noticeable here without any definitive hop qualities and just pungent, if not stale malt. Aftertaste shows the pungent hops, a lot of bitterness from the malt, some light sugars and a bit of funky medicinal and assertive qualities throughout, but not like a typical APA. Overall, easily the weakest of the four beers from the pack, and while this wasn’t good, the other three were, despite the lower ratings here - they were better than I expected them to be, especially at the price range! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Costco in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 03-May-2017 for US$19,99 for a full case/24 pack of 4 mixed six packs, sampled at home in Washington on 19-June-2017, right in front of said Costco.

330ml bottle - tnaks Steve!
Sweet caramelly aroma, quite papery, some nut papers. Sweet caramelly malty taste, dirty and papery. Sugary watery palate, fizzy carbonation. Dirty papery finish. Weak ale.

Brewed and bottled by Bricks and Barley Brewing Company in Steven’s Point, Wisconsin. Served from bottle into glass at home. Pours pale gold in color, high clarity with full white head. Fairly meek aroma consisting of a simple indistinguishable hops and bread-like malt. Flavor primarily lightly caramelized malt and very muted simple earthy hops. Low bitterness. Thin mouthfeel with medium high carbonation. Overall this beer is reminiscent of a more flavorful macro lager, like a slightly more robust Miller High Life. Very drinkable but with little complexity.

Pour from a 12oz bottle. Nice looking amber ale with persistent off white head, good lacing. Aroma is mild spicy hops with a little funky earth and tart fruit. Taste is moderate malt up front, with a crisp and clean, slightly spicy hops emerging in the finish. Not a hop bomb but respectably hopped. This is a decent APA and very enjoyable, especially at the discount price. As with the other beers in the sampler case the label on this says brewed at the Bricks & Barley Brewing Company, Steven Point, WI.

From the bottle at a friends birthday party. Some hops but nothing very exiting as expected

West coast version straight from the bottle. Mild citrus and grassy aroma. Taste is mild citrus, grass, weeds, and light malts. Not bad, better pounded on a hot day.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a one finger beige head that dissipates slowly. Has a thick, heavy lacing. Smells really, really fruity and complex. The taste is malt forward and some unwanted lemongrass, but quite good. I did expect more taste from such a wonderful aroma though. Light bitterness. A pleasing aftertaste that doesn’t stick around beyond its welcome. This is a very pleasant surprise as I expected more run of the mill. Wonderful!
