Bottle from local Yamaya. Malty aroma, yeasty, light plum notes. Dark copper-brown, 1cm beige head. Tangy initial, mid palate sweetens, final is malty with a little bitterness and some yogurt. Thin-medium body. Tasty enough, but the heavy yeast gets in the way.

Pours a ruddy hue with a thick, lasting head. Rich nose of treacle, caramel, tinned peaches and malt. Thinner and more watery than it smells - more bitter and less rich. Short and rather flat finish. Not bad, but doesnt live up to the smell.

Can shared. Clear brown with a finger of foam that lingers. Dark fruit and toasted caramel on the nose. A little too sweet on the palate but some light peppery notes on the finish. Decent enough.

330 ml bottle with pull-tap bought at YATA in MOKO, Mong Kok.

Looks: Clear copper colour with no yeast sedimentsOne finger head and crumpety off-white foam which lasts for 2 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing with notable slight carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant full amber malt, with caramel, toffee, strong dark fruits, light chocolates, strong floral, Cola, molasses, dark bread, strong yeast, light lemon and grass.

Taste: Close to light sweet full Amber malt, with caramel, light toffee, faint dark fruits, floral, molasses notes, dry biscuits, yeast, lemon, medium bitter hops and sharp grass.

Body: Medium body. Slick and smooth palate.

Mouth Feel: Full Amber maltyness in a pretty solid and smooth background. Caramel and light toffee dominate, with floral and mute molasses notes to back up the clean dry light breadyness. Lemon and bitter grass to round. Very solid!

Hoppiness: Strong floral, light lemon and grass in nose, same in taste but a lot stronger; Bitterness is strong for a lasting, close to high astringent caramel malty finish.

After Taste: Dry. Malty and quite bitter to mouth.

Comments: This brewer is doing something good with its German-style beers, and this Altbier is perhaps the best of the bunch - very solid Amber maltyness, well attenuated with minimal sweetness, strong caramel, dark fruity aroma and lots of dark bread and lemon hoppiness. No chemy yeast in the bottle which is also a plus. Very enjoyable and definitely worth buying!

[2016-07-22, Happy brew, Vilna] Tummanruskea, samea, htihe luonnonvaalea vaahto. Tuoksussa mmmimist maltaisuutta. Maku alkaa mmmimisen maltaisena; humalointi on vhinen. Jlkimaku on paahteinen ja vetinen. Suutuntuma on kevyt ja miedosti hiilihappoinen.
