maekchu (3847) - Hirakata, - NOV 10, 2012
Bottle from local Yamaya. Malty aroma, yeasty, light plum notes. Dark copper-brown, 1cm beige head. Tangy initial, mid palate sweetens, final is malty with a little bitterness and some yogurt. Thin-medium body. Tasty enough, but the heavy yeast gets in the way.

Botella. Light like amber colour, medium white head. Sweet aroma, malty with caramel, toasty, some fruit to it. Good mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet with toasty malt and caramel along with some fruit to it, mild to medium bitterness. Pleasant.

Couleur brune/rouge avec une bonne clarté, très joli. Mousse timide. Nez sur le caramel et le toffee. Idem en bouche, ça fait un peu penser à certains Barley Wine. Hélas, le reste n’est pas du tout à la hauteur. C’est fade, c’est aqueux, ça manque de corps, et les bulles sont très grosses et violentent vraiment les papilles, un peu comme certaines bières industrielles. Pas très agréable... Pas d’amertume, c’est doux en bouche de ce point de vue là. Bref, la base maltée est intéressante mais tout ce qu’il y a autour est vraiment décevant.

Aroma: 4 sweet but kinda foul. Appearance: 3 nice dark amber colour but thin, bubbly head. Taste: 5 bland, sweet caramel, biscuits, vinegar, cola. Palate: 2 watery. Overall: 9 Needs improvement
