COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Kyotos first local beer in 1995. It has a good aroma, and is crisp and rich. We have used our own Fushimi water, and Seishu sake yeast for a slight sake-like aroma in this mellow, pale-gold beer.

Bottle from local Yamaya. Yeasty, fruity aroma, with light lemon and apples. Light pale straw color, 2-3cm head. Very thin distressed winey initial; mid palaate brings some bitterness; final flattens out quickly. Thin body. Interesting aroma... but the first sip disappoints and it gets no better.

Bottled 330ml. -from 8 a Huit Val Thorens as Kyoto Flavor of Sake Brewery. Golden coloured, small white head, weak grassy nose. Sweetish malty, rice, some notes of grass and fruits with short bitter finish. Rather plain brew.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2016 Can at kyoto station. Straight from can. I think very pale color with bubbly head. Aroma is weirf somehow resembling sake with apple and pear and some floral tones, light bitterness in the finish. Thin watery texture sustained carbonation dry finish. Peculiar at least but not really appealing.

Bue en cannette au Japon. Biere utilisant des levures de sake. Odeur de sake. Pas de mousse et couleur pale. Final tres seche et acide, sur le sake. Interessant mais pas de longueur en bouche, pas damertume et trop acide a mon gout

330 ml bottle with pull-tap bought at YATA in MOKO, Mong Kok.

Clear light golden colour with a very small ring of dirt like yeast sediments; Less than one-quarter finger head with residual soapy white foam which fades in 20 seconds. Fair good lacing and very slight carbonation; Fragrant light malt, with pear and apples esters, floral, light sweet rice soup and strong sake yeast; Close to light sweet taste of very light malt, with very light rice wine, floral, thin pear ester, shades of sugar, sake yeast, light lemon, fair bitter hops and light grass; Close to light body. Smooth and quite slick palate; Mouth feel is light maltyness in a slightly soapy background, filled by sake-yeast induced light rice-winey esters which lighten things up considerably. Light floral, low sweetness and light lemon to round. Interesting!... Hoppiness is floral in nose. Light lemon, floral and light grass in taste; Bitterness is light to fair for an abrupt, low astringent estery finish; Fairly dry after taste. Fairly easy to mouth.

Comments: This light beer is pretty much saved / fired up by sake yeast to boost some interesting fruity aroma and rice-winey taste. Better than most macro Pales of course, but with a more beefed-up malt base would it a lot tastier. Drinkable.

jinroh (1365) - ESTONIA - JUL 5, 2016
Grainy golden, slightly hazy, it of foam. Aroma has some flowery grain character. Some wet cardboard also. Taste is relatively light, slightly grassy and has some yeasty character - not your usual lager, which is a definite plus. Still drink easy and does not have awful lot of character. Again, I think I got a fresh can this time, feels quite nice.

Can. Pale gold with a large white head. Grainy aroma with apples, some pepper. Thin, fizzy. Normally that much apple in the aroma of a golen lager means get ready for the cardboard, but not here. Still pretty bland with pre-ground pepper at the end and mushy apples throughout.

Bottle at Kyoto station. Feels like the sake yeast twist gives it a pretty strong sweet apple character, not really my thing but half drinkable by omiyage beer standards...

visionthing (5015) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAR 30, 2016
33cl bottle (labeled "Flavor of Sake Brewery") from Pothouse, Tallinn. Pours hazy golden with a small, white head. A bit unusual - fairly fruity and grainy with some yeasty notes, hints of ripe apples and mild spices. Moderate sweet with a bit unfamiliar flavours, a light acidity and mild bitterness. Fairly drinkable and somewhat refreshing, but hardly a favourite.
