Subtle chocolate malts on the nose, and pours very dark, though not viscous. Flavours are predominately in the front palate and quite soft. Unfortunately these flavours dissipate quickly. Maris (1553) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - MAY 24, 2012
From a 500ml bottle on 24/5/2012. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a big thick head. Has a slight aroma of chocolate and dark fruit. This one is all tart cherry in the flavour, with just a hint of chocolate in the background. The sweet sour cherry is very intense. Comes across as more of a fruit beer than a porter. An interesting beer if not an unqualified success. gam (4000) - brisbane, AUSTRALIA - APR 20, 2012

Drank ok and probably what it set out to be but just didn’t do a lot for me, brown body with short head, cherry seems to overpower the rest of the flavours in taste and aroma, a bit tart and not enough chocolate. davidm (2080) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JAN 22, 2012
Bottle 500ml from Swords VIC Market. Great fruity porter. Aromas of cherries and chocolate. Taste is sweet and sour, with light bitterness and long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Dark brown, with a disappearing head.

I’m not sure what it is about cherries that give even the darkest of beers a slightly reddish tinge to the head. This one was a sort of off-white to grey with that hint of red. While the beer was a deep, dark chocolate colour on top, the base of the glass what a poetical type might call a roseate hue. The aromas lean toward a perfumy cherryvite along with dark charry porter character. The first flush of flavours upon tasting are a cooling wash of tasty berrifruit and more orthodox porter chocolates. Not much discernible bitterness and the finish leans more toward dessert-like cherry tart.
This beer does what it says on the label and it earns a big like from me.
