Draft at WCBF 2008. Nice dark toasted malt aroma. Black color with minimal head. Flavor is lightly fruity with very smooth toasted malt. Finish is fairly dry. Just a a touch of bitter to solidify the experience. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - AUG 26, 2009

Some smoked roast aroma. Black strong in alcohol and a little rich on the palate. Slightly sour fruit finish. bpreo (2832) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - JUL 5, 2011
This one was good, and I mean damn good. One sniff and I knew it was true love. beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - DEC 4, 2006
On tap at the 2006 Holiday Ale Festival. Pours black with a tan head. Very sweet stout that had quite a bit of diacytle in it. Very milky chocolate flavor that had the butterscotch flavor from the diacytle, but since it wasn’t a sweet stout this didn’t taste all that bad. Very smooth and creamy on the palate with a light milk chocolate finish.

Draught. Pured very dark brown with medium white head. Very strong aroma, chocolate coffee and caramel. Full flavour, coffee, chocolate with raspberry and ’n bietje hop, with enough bitterness to keep it from being sicky sweet. Zymurgeist2 (2179) - Redwood City, California, USA - NOV 10, 2011
Opaque with brown head. Burnt roasted aroma overwhelmed all of the other scents. Alcohol shows itself here but the beer is too disjointed. On tap at KBB. Angeloregon (2055) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 26, 2007
For those reclusive wintery daze, this thick, malty, and delicious concotion is one of a kind. With a small gray-bronze head and a deep black-brown body this beer is well balanced and takes on a roasted fruit complexity after several sips. Stout lovers should make sure to get a taster of this beautiful bear of a beer neepsntatties (1973) - Portland, Oregon, USA - SEP 17, 2009
Had this on tap at Bailey’s Taproom in Portland, OR. Colour... black with dark ruby edges and a thick mocha head. Nose... lightly roasted malt and kind of a berry-like fragrance. Palate... frothy with an interesting tanginess to go with the grainy-roasty malt and yeast. Dubbercody (213) - Vancouver, Washington, USA - MAR 4, 2007
On tap at Holiday Ale Festival 2006
Black beer with small but fluffy light tan head. Chocolate, roast and traditional slight stout sweetness drive up to fill your nose. The taste follows in line with the nose. A great stout taste with the fine flavors of chocolate, coffee and roast.
Really excellent beer that I think is libel to get lost amongst all the HUGE beers at this years festival. Very impressive beer that I will be seeking out in the Portland Area.
