Pours with no head, no matter how much you try. The smell is quite nice, dark chocolate, cocoa, dark fruit, some alcohol. The taste follows the same trend, veering towards a traditional RIS, if not for the super present alcohol in the taste. Would make for a decent drink, if the alcohol weren’t that present, and given the fact that it has a 8.5% ABV concentration, I think this qualifies as a big let down.

On tap @Brasserie 4:20 (Rome), vintage, Stout&Porter Festival. Coca cola color with a minimal head. Aroma is malty, caramel, light roasted notes... wtf? Flavour is sweet, caramel, bread... watery... light body, light carbonation... is this a joke? hotstuff (5281) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - JAN 14, 2014
Rated on 9-29-2009-corked and caged bottle. When poured, this beer forms a small very fizzy tan head that quickly dissipated, mostly opaque brown body with a red tint, no lacing, and visible carbonation. The Aroma consists of semi-roasted malt, hops, dark fruits, and alcohol. The Taste is semi-roasted malt, dark fruits, and chocolate. This beer has a dry finish. The Palate is watery and thin. Overall, this beer is not a good representation of its style due to its watery, thin texture and therefore it lost some points. This is a beer that I do not recommend and therefore not a beer I am interested in drinking again. worldbeertaste (1819) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - DEC 23, 2013
2 year old bottle. Black with a white, thin, frothy, lasting lacy head. Smells of liquorish, sweet malt, soft roast, and soft coffee. Taste of sweet malt, coffee, with a roasted malt, and a bitter roasty finish. Decent stout. jmgreenuk (10378) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - DEC 23, 2013
Bottle at Dean’s night before the night tasting, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy tan head. The aroma is creamy roasted malt. The flavour is medium bitter with a strange medicinal liqourice hop palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

This is a pretty decent imperial stout. A little too much licorice for my taste, but has the requisite darkness, heaviness, and chocolate to suit my preferences. imdownthepub (15525) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 25, 2013
Bottled, 330ml from The Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam. Virtually black with tan head. It’s been mentioned before on here, but I had the same, expecting the intense chocolate malt roastiness, this proved to be a lighter, fruitier beer. There is a sweetish liqorice with a plummy flavour, thinner than would be ideal. Reasonable enough but not as advertised. fugitive (2061) - Athens, GREECE - FEB 15, 2013
