Zwart & Straf Winterbier

Het Nest’s third beer, this time at Scheldebrouwerij. Heavy winter ale with light beige head and very dark bronze colour. Spicy aroma of liquorice and star aniseed, chocolate malts, candi sugar, raisins, some coffee. Dryish, well-rounded taste, dried fruits, spicy accents, full and thick maltiness, bitter hops in the finish. Tasteful.

Idiosynkrasie (7533) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - AUG 23, 2014
330ml bottle. Ruby red glowing, darkest brown colour with average to huge, firm, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Spicy yeasty aroma, heavy, fruity, dark malty background, notes of red and dark berries, plums, dark cherries. Taste is initially moderately sweet dark malty, notes of chocolate, alcohol soaked dark fruit, cherries, later with dry hints of fruit parings and more explicit, warming alcohol, rum and cocoa background, emerging yeasty notes predominate the finish. Second pouring (glass not empty) produces a slightly darker second layer of foam under the remaining head.

Donkerbruin, bruine kraag. Zeer fruitig bier. Donker fruit maakt het licht zuur. Verder gist, melasse en alcohol. Zit wel iets in van rode wijn. Mooi bier.
