Zwart & Straf Winterbier

Bottle:Deep ruby-amber coloured, a bit unclear, medium-sized tanned head; sweet roasty-bready nose with traces of molasses in the Background, sweet dried fruits as well; moderate to solid sweet and bitter flavour, medium to full bodied; lingering fruity and roasty-malty finish, some bitterness, some alcohol, too, in the aftertaste. Pleasant and easy-drinking - regarding the ABV - strong ale...

It poured a dark brown color with an off-white head. The aroma was of malts, caramel, licorice and fruits. The taste was sweet and malty with some caramel, licorice, slight warming alcohol, plumbs and raisins. Good stuff.

750 ml bottle from Rare Beer club. Pours brown with foamy, beige head. Aroma is of funky yeast, sherry, chocolate and plums. Body is full and crisp.. Yeast, dark fruit, hops, spices, brown sugar and nutty malt fill the mouth. Finish is long and bitter. Complex and tasty brew.

Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer has a dark brown to black color and a large cream colored head with a lot of bubbles. In the aroma are tones of black chocolate, dark fruits, roasted malts and liquorice. The taste is light sweet with a nice bitterness from the dark chocolate in the end. The finish is dry and a light bitterness is noticable for a while. A strong ale which reminds me of a stout, very well done.

Bottle 33cl. Deep black with a huge light brown head. Aroma has spices? Cant really pin down what it makes me think of. Be prepared for a surprise when you take your first sip. Theres alcohol in its taste, but its very spicy too. Very special, but not sure if I like it.
