3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Another brewed just for these guys. I sit at night on Gent’s lit canal. Smells sweet. Brown sugar and molasses. A thick sugar, plums, raisins, slight alcoholic smell, huge head in beginning disappears but a small head still remains some 20 mins later. Appearance is nice dark medium amber brown color. Clear and the color of cherry wood. Flavor is slightly booze at the back of the throat. Raisin taste. quite dry with molasses taste and some citrus notes left on back at the end. As it warms biscuit comes out in aroma and flavor.
At Waterhuis aan de Bierkant, Ghent. Pours hazy dark amber/red with a big, frothy, tan head. The aroma contains yeast, orange (peel), (ripe) mandarin, spices, caramel, sugar and alcohol. It tastes medium sugary sweet and light to medium hoppy bitter; bit dry, rather short, almost wry, with a slight alcohol burn. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. To be fair, I expected more from it. bastet75 (2) - - SEP 24, 2017 does not count
Da riprendere! james2550 (5) - - SEP 23, 2017 does not count
It’s a really good looking, carmally, very high abv home brew. Really nice - the sweet, deep mouth feel with sugars offsets the alcohol, but the aftertaste burns a bit. It might be better with a lower abv. The elephant at the Lincoln Park Zoo would love this stuff.
