On tap @ the brewpub. Pours hazy straw with stable white head. Clear aroma of hops, malt and yeast with a subtle note of paper. Sweetish, yeasty and malty flavour with a good layer of hoppy bitterness. Bitter finish. A very nice Helles. TEJA (3105) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 11, 2013
Bottle sampled at ThomasW, thanks.
Creamy beige head. Golden color and almost clear. Small but clean aroma. Sweet malty taste with medium hop taste and a balanced bitterness. Typical Hell. darkseduction (750) - Zweibrücken, GERMANY - JAN 6, 2013
On tap @ brewpub. Dark Amber coloured cloudy brew with firm white head. Typical Brauhaus style taste, fresh, thirst quenching. A fine hoppiness in the finish. Good brew! worldbeertaste (1804) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - SEP 8, 2012
Hazy yellow gold with a nice thick white lasting sticky lacy frothy head. Smells of malt and faint alcohol and hop. Smooth frothy medium body. So smooth. Taste of malt, toasted malt, pepper and barley. So smooth and soft to drink. Slight hoppiness on the finish. Very very smooth. COMRADEJOSH (320) - Gainesville, Florida, USA - JUL 6, 2012
Overall this is your standard generic german beer not great not bad just in the middle. Nothing over the top stands out to me. Drinkable but that is about all it has going. Mildly bitter, mild carbonation, slightly toasted malt and it all comes together to just make a medium of the road beer.

From BA: Sept 2007. I bought two brown flip-top bottles (half-litres) on my visit in June 2007. I knew they would have a short life because of the set-up of the brewery, but I forgot to check and log the ’best before dates’ on my return to the UK. The bottles I am reviewing should have been drunk before 25th July 2007, I drank them today, 10th Sept 2007.
Poured into my Berliner Kindl half-litre sleeve glass.
I had this draught at the brewery, so knew it was going to be very cloudly. The colour is a dull orange with a good firm white head, not pure white, but whiter than biege.
The aroma is of yeast and light malts, hops too. Not a lot of power in any of the smells though.
The sharpness I remembered from the fresh draught beer had gone, but the sour refreshing taste was still evident, dry and bitter. This is a fine tasting beer.
The sourness stays in the mouth, as does the dry bitter taste. What a pity I am not drinking this on a warm summers day on the banks of the river Mosel, but in damp old England.
Obviously the freshness isn’t in the beer anymore, but it was still very drinkable and I will re-review this beer if I get the chance to do so with an indate bottle, or draught at the brewhouse.

Smell: irony, malts, creamy, slight amount of hops, yeast, bitter
Taste: starts pretty bitter with slight irony flavour, next is a soft creamy hayish malty flavour, slight amount of yeast, end is kinda doughy and dry, aftertatste is grassy, pretty nice !
Bottle. Hazy yellow color, fluffy white head, great lacing. Aroma of pure yeast and raw Bread dough. Taste is black pepper and hay. Nice. Holy (837) - GERMANY - JAN 28, 2012
Thanks Bottleshop! Please standby for a real rating. I’m actually enjoying the company of other beer enthusiasts instead of being a non-social "I must rate this right now!!!" Snaps (16) - Ouddorp, NETHERLANDS - JUL 27, 2011
Not the best of de Kloster Machern beers, that was the Dunkel. But this is a beer like al pils.
