Bottle 50cl. in Bamberg. Apperance; almost black with some redish, a big lightbrown head. Aroma; sweet malt, some dark fruits, plumb. Flavor; again some darkfruits, sweet but also sence of smoke.

Tap @ Brewpub. Pours dark brown with a creamy head and lacings. Nose is vaguely roasted and has lots of caramel and liquorice. Smooth and full bodied. Hard roasted flavor with bread and caramel. Very nice. One of the best Schwarzbiers Ive had.

Oakes (17274) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 1, 2009
Very dark brown. Slightly chocolatey, cocoa aroma is sort of fresh. Toasty, biscuity palate with hints of cocoa. Slightly thin. The body is a bit charred, not my type of schwarzbier.

Beershine (5224) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 21, 2009
Draft at the brewery. Black, pretty much opaque with a slight red tint. Fizzy but lasting beige head and no lacing. The slightest hint of diacetyl is here, strange! Wet grain aromas. Brisk carbonation is light and refreshing. Nice toastiness and burnt qualities. The sourness is strange but falls just short of being offensive.

[bottle] Nice toasty aroma with some plums and coffee. Clear, but practically opaque garnet with a lasting and lacy tan top. Nicely balanced sweet base malt with smoothening liquorice and bread crust flavours that end in a pleasant bitter bite. Even a little bit of hay and lotus root. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly bitter in the finish.

Ober (2812) - Bommelerwaard, NETHERLANDS - OCT 4, 2008
Brewery tap. A black colored beer, with a thick dark beige foamed head. The aroma of dark malts, caramel and hops. The taste of dark fruits, like prunes, a little bit chocolate malts, with a nice hopbitter. A nice smooth after bitter. When the temperature of the beer is rising, the chocolate taste is stronger.
