Brown head with small fine bobbles. Lasting and creamy. Brown body. Aroma of roasted malt, nutty and caramel. The flavor is sweet but well balanced with a bitter-burnt finish. 3fourths (9358) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 20, 2009
draft at klosterbrau in bamberg. deep chestnut brown body with a dark red tint at the bottom. nose has a bit of tin and butter along with the obligatory black patent malt, mild char, mild ash, etc. dusty, ashy texture, medium body. twang across the middle and in the finish. not great. bottle from Bierzwerg. Clear brown colour with a mid-sized head. Not as black as expected from a Schwarzbier. Malty with hints of caramel and strongly roasted dark malts, hints of coffee and chocolate. Well-balanced Dunkel. bobinlondon (1297) - Harrow, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 30, 2009
Gravity at Zeitgeist Bier Mania Oktoberfest 08. Deep ruby black with a dense beige head. Roasty and chocolatey with smooth carbonation. Hops are slightly tinny. Not so rounded for a German beer but far more interesting than most. Nordcore (1641) - Lyngen alps, NORWAY - JUL 11, 2009
Bottle 50cl. in Bamberg. Apperance; almost black with some redish, a big lightbrown head. Aroma; sweet malt, some dark fruits, plumb. Flavor; again some darkfruits, sweet but also sence of smoke.

Tap @ Brewpub. Pours dark brown with a creamy head and lacings. Nose is vaguely roasted and has lots of caramel and liquorice. Smooth and full bodied. Hard roasted flavor with bread and caramel. Very nice. One of the best Schwarzbiers Ive had. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - JUL 6, 2009

Very deep brown colour, small beige head. Aroma is mild roasted malts, some yeast as well as caramelly. Flavour is roasted malts, caramel and some yeast.
Very dark brown. Slightly chocolatey, cocoa aroma is sort of fresh. Toasty, biscuity palate with hints of cocoa. Slightly thin. The body is a bit charred, not my type of schwarzbier. Beershine (5253) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 21, 2009
Draft at the brewery. Black, pretty much opaque with a slight red tint. Fizzy but lasting beige head and no lacing. The slightest hint of diacetyl is here, strange! Wet grain aromas. Brisk carbonation is light and refreshing. Nice toastiness and burnt qualities. The sourness is strange but falls just short of being offensive. daniele (9660) - ITALY - APR 4, 2009
