Poured vom fass, 500ml, at the brewpub. Fading beige head to a deep black coloured body with rustic highlights. Nicely roasted malts on the nose. Dark caramel taste joined by coffee, roasted. Dark malty finish. Well bodied, but easy to drink. Likable (Bamberg 10.10.2014).

Look; huge beige foamcrown, dark clear copper-red body. Aroma; dark caramels, dark fruits, dusty raisins, dusty chocolate, grassy modest hops behind. Taste; dark fruits, brown caramels, dark malts, prunes, plum peel, grassy hops - leading to an about soft finish with dark malts and some prunes and grass. Normal texture and soft carbonation. Tasty beer, I just thought it would be black. [50cl brown swingtop-bottle 5.2%abv BB11-11-2015 [email protected]]

Dark brown to black colored with ruby hue, medium beige creamy head. Aroma is grainy malt, some chocolate and toasted notes. Taste is medium sweet grainy malt, cereal, decent amount of chocolate and bit roasty, light bitterness. Medium- bodied, bit watery, soft carbonation. Choco flakes. (on tap at the brewery)

Dark color with a nice head. The taste is hard roasted malts, coffee. Finished kind of watery but with hints of smoked malts and whiskey?

Black brown with small tan head. Smokey roasted grain aroma with hints of coffee. Flavor gives more roasted notes and coffee too, but in a pleasent balanced way. A very dry finish. A very descent schwarz.

Papsoe (25054) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 12, 2006
(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a dark mahogany with a reddish glow and a creamy, off-white head. Malty, roasted nose. Medium-bodied with lots of hard roasted malt and a lightly smoked edge. Burned, bitter finish. 060605

A Mes rate: Gravity serving at Zeitgeist.
Very dark cloudy brown with a thin off white head. Grainy aroma, slightly sour with some spice and toffee. Lemony sourness in the flavour, tangy malt. Ok but not amazing.

Beershine (5253) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 21, 2009
Draft at the brewery. Black, pretty much opaque with a slight red tint. Fizzy but lasting beige head and no lacing. The slightest hint of diacetyl is here, strange! Wet grain aromas. Brisk carbonation is light and refreshing. Nice toastiness and burnt qualities. The sourness is strange but falls just short of being offensive.

Gravity at Zeitgeist Bier Mania Oktoberfest 08. Deep ruby black with a dense beige head. Roasty and chocolatey with smooth carbonation. Hops are slightly tinny. Not so rounded for a German beer but far more interesting than most.
