Pours hazy copper with nice tan head, creamy, moderate retention,some good lacing. Roasty, coffee, licorice nose. Medium body, average carbonation, oily texture. Taste is some bitter, oasty, dark licorice. Smooth and enjoyable.
Bottle: Almost black, big fluffy brownish head; different malts in the aroma. caramel, roasted, smoked, only very shy notes of floral hoppiness; "thick" taste: coffee, chocolate, malts, quite complex; bitter-sweet aftertaste; very smooth and mellow and not too sweet; a very good one ! caesar (7133) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JUL 20, 2007

Bottled (5,2% ABV). A black beer with a very big and persistent light brown head. Malty nose with a roasty touch. The flavour is malty, roasty with some coffee notes and light hoppy notes. Draft - Dark chestnut body, beige lasting head; pleasant caramel warm nose; Fresh warm slightly sweet balanced body; Slightly smoked (?) finish, caramel warm. Very special and very nice beer.

Nice toasty aroma with some plums and coffee. Clear, but practically opaque garnet with a lasting and lacy tan top. Nicely balanced sweet base malt with smoothening liquorice and bread crust flavours that end in a pleasant bitter bite. Even a little bit of hay and lotus root. Very dark mahogany color, almost black. Both the aroma and flavor present caramel and chocolate, that seems to be heavily oxidised; there is some sweetness in the front, while it’s dier in the end, with also a bit of roasted malts. Unexciting.

Dark mahogany color; generous head. Nice delicate aroma of roasted malt. Malty flavor, sweetish, with a round mouthfeel, and a good chocolate and coffee component, delicate; the bitterness is quite low, although in the end the coffeish touch is more evident. Very good Schwarz.
50 cl bottle from "Il Regno di Gambrinus". Served into an english half pint glass. Pours a clear dark ruby red/brown with an off white non-persistent head. Averace lacing. Aroma of toasted malt, herbs hops, some light chocolate and caramel. Same taste with an herbal and toasted aftertaste. Good carbonation, watery texture.
