A red-brown beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is sweet with some notes of licorice, but also some notes of caramel and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel as well as slightly roasted notes and hints of licorice, but the body is thin. MoritzF (10129) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - AUG 4, 2006
(swing top bottle, 5,2 % ABV) Clear, dark reddish brown colour with a big and slowly lacing off-white foam. Slightly sweet and aromatic oroma of dark, toasted malt with liquorice and milk chocolate, also a delicate hoppy background. Light-sweet flavour, slightly roasted malty taste with chocolate and caramel; very smooth carbonation, creamy mouthfeelwith a light to medium body; dry and bittersweet finish with liquorice. Well-rounded and almost complex. BeerBiker (1414) - Odense, DENMARK - AUG 25, 2008
[Bottle bought in Bamberg.] Nice darkbrown look with off white head. Notes of sweet light roasted malt, straws, bread, caramel and some sticky carbonation. Great beer! yespr (48087) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - DEC 5, 2009
50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden dark orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is breadish and dry malty. Light metallic, roasted and vague sweet malt flavoured. Bitter and roasted finish. Nice one. EdKing (2655) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 25, 2011
I’m pretty new to Schwarzla’s (black beers) so was intrigued to taste this. Colour was very dark brown, almost black, taste is very similar to a porter with roasted malt giving it a chocolatey flavour. Nice hoppy finish. Weight and body is thinner than a porter, and a touch thinner than I like. But a nice beer.

Black body with a small and not persistent beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee. Lactose aftertaste. Body is low, carbonation is medium Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - APR 20, 2013
On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear, deeper brown colored body with a slight mahogany hue. Inch thick, dense and frothy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is medium sweet malts with a touch of molasses, a light roast note, some raisin bread, and a light noble hopping. Flavor is similar. A light roast throughout with a bit of an noble hop note, some lightly sweetened malts with molasses hints, roast, bread, and a touch of spice. Finishes clean and dry with a light roasty bitterness and a bit of a sweetness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a light body and an active carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid schwarzbier. Clean, easy drinking, and flavorful. A touch sweet at times, but nicely balanced by the roasts and light hopping. Good one. Wanja (772) - GERMANY - JUL 13, 2013
